I haven't played golf in years. Still have a set of old wood clubs (probably 1970s vintage). I also suffer heat exhaustion pretty easily in direct sunlight and it makes the sport prohibitively unpleasant.
And I won't shut up...you'll probably skim a lot of mine. :-P
I was using wooden "woods" up until about 1995. It wasn't until this fall that I used an oversized driver. My dad gave me one that he wasn't using any longer back in October. Only have used it a couple of times. Still not sure I like it. The balance is weird, and you have to tee the ball higher than I tend to.
I love golf, and it's become easier to play with Dad now that he isn't trying to correct all of my flaws. The weird thing is that when it had been about three years between times I'd played, I wasn't all that rusty. In fact, I was striking the ball better than I had before the layoff.
The biggest problem with the round that I'd played on Sunday was that my right wrist was sore until tonight. I injured that wrist while I was bowling with your sister and some others back when I lived in Cleveland 6 years ago.
