On the other hand, noone forced them to take a job that requires that they fill all prescriptions for legal medications, either. When you accept that state license, you are accepting a privilege that comes with conditions. If you do not like those conditions, you aren't being forced into the occupation. If you wish to have a job that won't conflict with your morals, work for the church. You have the freedom to choose your career (at least in theory, but those that cannot afford to choose their career aren't going to be able to afford to go to pharm school, either). In short, I don't think that you're being forced to participate in things you object to, simply because you made a conscious decision to pursue this career path, knowing full and well that you may be called upon to fill prescriptions for birth control. I have little sympathy for them if they find their chosen career to be "morally objectionable ( ... )

Like kungfoo said, where would it stop? Refuse to give care on Sundays, or to brunettes, etc.

I have to ask if these pharmacists who refuse to fill birth control prescriptions also try to hide the condoms on the shelves or refuse to ring them up. This is ridiculous.

From what I've read, they will refuse to get condoms from locked display cases, for example. And there is nowhere that it will stop since they will have carte blanche to claim "moral objection" to just about anything that refuse to do. The not serving brunettes may be a little far, but what if they're orthodox Jews and refuse to serve people who don't have their hair covered? Or who are wearing a mixed-fibre garment?
