The news of his victory made my day yesterday :)

Glad to hear it. It made mine, until I heard some of the hosts of "liberal" talk radio shows complaining that this would make it easier for the conservatives to attack the Democrats in the next election. This isn't about winning or losing elections. It's about adhering to the principles upon which this country was founded. If we don't hold to them, what is the point?

And welcome to the wonderful world of my ranting about politics. It's quite a change from the world of anime. :)

Indeed, that is what it's all about. As politically-minded as I am, I've never bothered with liberal radio. They've always bugged me for one reason or another...

The only show I really bother with much anymore is Al Franken's and that's because it's as much entertainment as politics. Appearantly, from what I've read, Jerry Springer's radio show is also pretty good. Most of the rest of the "liberal" talk radio out there is pretty much crap.

I agree 100%. I think it's ridiculous that "under God" is in there at all, and I stopped saying the pledge partway through school mainly because of that reason.

I stopped saying "under God" when I've been anywhere where the Pledge has been said somewhere around the time I started college. We didn't recite it daily when I was in high school, and it was around that time that I realized that it was against the principles of this country to include it ( ... )

I object to the pledge being mandatory in the first place, really. If it's not mandatory, I don't care whether it includes the "under God" phrase or not.

That's the problem; that it includes that phrase and is mandatory. If one or the other were changed, I wouldn't care, either. Although I still don't think that "under God" should be in there for the reasons that I outlined. But I'd have a lot less reason to object if it weren't mandatory.
