I bought A.J. a machete the second last time I was in Mexico. I got it out ok although I don't know if I could now, what with the luggage searches they do. He liked it a lot, although I don't think he carves up pigs with it, which is what they were doing where I bought it. We need pictures!

This is pretty much how I felt about India. The odd food habits I didn't miss, the ones I would, the animals, the bucket showers, the internet, the heat, the language barrier, the poverty, that not being sure if I wanted to stay longer or go home. I cried a lot my last day when I had to say goodbye to everything.

Sounds like a true blue adventure to me! I'm glad that your trip is having high points, and oddly enough, the lows too. <=] Part of going to experience a different culture, is learning to appreciate your own a lot more I would think. It sounds like you're doing all you should be though, going out and taking social risks, and being touched by what you find. You're so brave to taking that leap out there!

I really hope the rest of your trip there goes well, and very very safe. Thanks so much for keeping us updated on your goings on out there too; makes me feel better knowing you're alright out there! <3 We'll await more journals and tweets and eventually pictures, Katkat!
