You Belong With Me
Epilogue
I suppose I should say that wasn’t where our story ended. Sure it was a happily ever after for the night, but it isn’t like we died after that. So it wasn’t the end, not really.
It’s been four years since that crazy year of school (thankfully my senior year involved much less drama). I’m enrolled in my third year of college where I am making great progress on a degree in mathematics that I still have yet to decide what I’m going to do with.
It took us at least four months to work the story out of Leeteuk about her and Kangin. Apparently just after the talent show he had appeared at her house. She had answered the door and threatened that she would call the police if he didn’t leave her alone. Instead he simply handed her a notebook and told her that he would wait for her no matter how long it took.
Leeteuk couldn’t figure out why he had simply just walked away after that, until she made it to her room with the notebook. Inside its pages, was a record of every thought he had ever had about her. It was an elaborate record of how he first saw her, right up until the point he had decided to give her the notebook. She had found it horribly romantic and, after the appropriate amount of time, had called him to inform him of that.
Now they both attend school with Sungmin just down the road. Leeteuk is a senior in the media department, specializing in becoming an MC. Kangin is a senior in the acting department. Both seem to be doing well at their chosen relationship. They are still together. In fact they were married two months ago. Leeteuk looked stunning in white and Kangin couldn’t decide if he wanted to smile or cry the entire time.
When I saw Leeteuk last week, she was practically glowing. If the hand that kept drifting to her belly was any indication - it told me long before she did- I think her family might be getting bigger in about nine months. Kangin is practically ecstatic. He follows her around caring for her, and handling her as if she is going to break. The rest of us have a running bet on how long it will take for Leeteuk to get completely sick of this and tell him off. My money is on two more weeks.
Eunhyuk and Donghae both attend the same school as Leeteuk and Kangin. They are both majoring in dance with a double minor in music and acting. To this day they both have their own separate places, but we are sure they only use one at any given time. Two years ago Donghae made it official and asked Eunhyuk to marry him. She, of course, said yes. They have both decided to wait until they have finished college to tie the knot.
Heechul, whom I am proud to say I can still find something I hate about, still can’t decide between her men. Hankyung decided to stay after his senior year, and actually immigrated here. He and Siwon have been dancing around her for ages. She loves all the attention. I have personally walked in on her making out with one and then only a day later she would be doing the same with the other. To this day I have no idea how they make that work.
Apparently they don’t mind too much. Just the other day Heechul showed me a video of “her men” as she calls them, making out. That was something I didn’t really need to see. She, unlike some women would be, is thrilled that her men are falling in love with each other. Now she is wondering who will ask her to marry him first. I’m not sure if a three way wedding will work, but none of us are going to tell her that. Besides this is Heechul, if there is some way to make it work she will find it. For now the three are also attending Sungmin’s school and all are seniors in the acting department.
Zhou mi is still single, not that she seems to mind much. She flirts with pretty much anything and has a great time telling Heechul that she is going to steal Hankyung away because “we Chinese have to stick together.” She is a senior in the music program with Henry who is a sophomore. Lately I’ve noticed her looking at him more and more. I think she is just waiting for him to make a move.
Like Hankyung, Ryeowook immigrated here after high school. I don’t think he could bear to leave Yesung. They were married almost immediately after that. No one was really surprised. Yesung is a senior at the music department and Ryeowook is a junior. I think they plan to form a duet group after they finish school.
Shindong and Kibum pride themselves at being the only single people in our little group. Both seem to be content to focus solely on their carriers for now. Shindong is a junior in the dance program with Eunhyuk, and Kibum is a junior in the acting department. He has already had several roles in plays and musicals at the college level and all the professors say that he has a bright future. Shindong has been wowing everyone by her choreographing abilities and I wouldn’t be surprised if she was hired right away after college.
Sungmin goes to school with all the rest. He is a senior in the music program, and has written several original pieces already. I seem to be the only one of our little group who has decided to do something else with her life. My school is just down the road from their school of the arts. They tease me for being a nerd and I tease them for being, in essence, band geeks.
It’s not like I don’t sing any more. In fact Yesung has been able to convince me to sing with her and Ryeowook several times. I sang for them at their wedding and in turn they sang for me at mine.
Did I forget to mention that? Sungmin and I were married one year ago today. Heechul was horribly disappointed that he just asked me and there was no elaborate thought out plan to ask for my hand, (she then went on to inform Siwon and Hankyung exactly what she expects). I told him yes and the next thing I knew I was being led down the aisle to him.
My mother cried, repeatedly, all day long, while my father tried to pretend that he wasn’t sobbing. My little sister, then age three, had walked down the aisle ahead of me sprinkling flower petals. She only managed to eat two of the petals before they were taken from her. It was a wonderful day and a better night. We have been mostly happy ever since.
I am pleased to say that there are no little ones on the way yet. Sungmin begged rather pathetically as soon as he found out that Leeteuk was pregnant. I told him not until after we graduated, to which he had made me promise that I would get pregnant before his sister as if we can just schedule this thing.
All things considered, I think things have been going relatively well for everyone involved. Maybe I don’t really believe in happily ever afters, but I suppose we have something close. So to my husband, who I am writing this for on our one year anniversary so that he can see just how much I love him, thank you for giving me a nearly happily ever after. Lee Sungmin, I love you.
AN: You guys are so spoiled, but only because you spoil me in turn with all of your comments. -laughs- Just as I was posting this, the song that inspired it all started playing on my ipod. This is officially it and the end of this little universe. I promise nothing because I don't know where my writing will take me. So I hope everyone enjoyed this! Thanks for sticking with me until the end of this!
