[Pomoland] Background Info: Riley's Eye Condition/Mechanism

Aug 26, 2009 20:51

Disclaimer: This genetic condition is completely fabricated but has been wrangled through hell and back in order to make it work as best it could within the macro confines of science. By "hell and back" I mean "the filter of classes I took for my BA in neurobiology, of which included a 9hr/week neurophysiology lab and a upperlevel cognitive ( Read more... )

Man, I am so glad I took biology and Neuropsychology. I don't think I'd understand otherwise.

But sounds like a fun idea! Have you seen Wai-motter's new journal?

It sucks being a bio major sometimes. OTL I get indignant at shoujo manga every time they try to write off Scandinavian-coloring as a result of being a 2nd generation mix or some other bullshit. It's like, no honey, if your dad was blond/blue-eyed, you'd still be dark haired/brown-eyed because those are fucking dominant. And the chances of you being all speshul-colored is even less if it was your GRANDPARENTS who were foreign. /rant

I just did! I'm late to every party lately. :(

I didn't realize that thou art attempted shoujo. But yeah, I do that too. I don't know why editors or something can't learn this shit to stop it from spreading.

Better late than never. Just think of it as being fashionable :D

XD Reading your character profiles gave me a bit of background, so I enjoyed reading A Pinch of Kindness more than if I hadn't read them, I suppose. ♥

DUDE. YOU JUST MADE WORTHWHILE THE STRUGGLE THROUGH *YEARS* OF BIOLOGY AND ADVANCED BIOLOGY IN HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE. I actually understood that. ALL OF IT. Even the "saccadic" part - that's back and forth movement, right? Controlled by the sacral...sacral something. Muscles around the eye. :DDDDD

ALSO OMG TALK SCIENCE FAGGY TO ME >3

\o/ AS LONG AS YOU DON'T WANT A MECHANISTIC DIAGRAM TO GO WITH, I LOVE YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING! Yes, "saccadic" describes the flickering movement of your eyes as they jump from focal points of interest/follow something. Um... not sure about any "sacral" muscles though. Perhaps you meant ocular?

I AM DETERMINED TO BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING IN OUR SERIES. INCLUDING THEIR COLORING. LIKE, RILEY'S? CAN HAPPEN BECAUSE HIS MOM'S NOT 100% KOREAN. Which makes him only 1/4 Korean, at most. EAT THAT SHOUJO MANGA. Heihei too; too make his grey eyes work, I'm going to have a one of Wang-Fei's ancestors be Russian or something har har har. |DDD;;

We've decided that Pomoland shall be scientifically possible. Just statistically improbable. ;D
