there are some really, really good videos on YouTube for picking locks, several of which I've done successfully. I work at The Home Depot on Sundays, and though I work in the Electrical department, I help out in Hardware sometimes when helping customers with locks.
simply looking up "how to pick a lock" will turn up lots of videos, but I think the one I've found the most useful was how to pick a lock using a soda can. (it works great, even on some pretty expensive padlocks.)
you'll likely find a video that gives details relevant to picking your lock, or else you'll find enough information to enable a mechanically-minded individual to pick the lock.

I have a friend and she's always constantly locking herself out of her apartment and car, so I have to pick the lock for her every time that happens.
