hi, I'm pretty much back to normal, and wanted to thank you for the note last week. We got the power back on Saturday night, but the heat really took it out of us while we waited, and dumped our refrigerator and stuff.
You lived in Knoxville, how 'bout that? Me, I'm ready to go somewhere where I can get a little space, personally:)
God! This is horrible. I went three days without power once, about 20 years ago. That was in the dead of winter, though, so the cold made it worse in many ways. I can see that heat would be pretty bad too. Gah! What difference does it make? More than a few hours without power is horrible, period. Hope you don't have to suffer much longer. Take care.
it took me some time to get over it - the power came back Saturday evening, but I'd gotten very tired trying to cope with the heat, and around here, the humidity's the killer. I became pretty depressed during the four days, what with the heat and darkness, worrying about my mother and pets, getting the children somewhere comfortable, then running back and forth to Mom's place. She got power the night before I did, thank God, because she just did not want to leave her home.
Thanks so much for the concern - it was nice to hear from you (and I enjoyed the virtual gift you sent as well)! Hope you never have to go without power again either - enduring the cold sounds horrible, too.
Whew! I'm so glad you're okay. I was starting to get worried.
Yes, dealing with no power is so hard. I know people did without it for all of history before the 20th century, but then their life expectancy was a lot lower, probably because they didn't have lights and fridges and computers and air conditioning and so on. Right? :-)))
The cold for three days was horrible. We had a fireplace but it wasn't much use, not being designed for heating a big house or cooking dinner. My little kitty Dannie spent most of the time curled up in my lap trying to keep warm, and I was scared for her. Then the lights came on and she jumped up off my lap and ran around all excited. So cute. :-)))

Best of luck for a quick re-powering.
