The Road

I am watching THE ROAD with Viggo Mortenson, and it is gray and lonesome and so much worse than that (no, I hadn't read the book). Nicely done, spare and horrifying but I have never seen ANYTHING so bleak (so far). The only bright thing is the discovery of the canned food and in particular the Jim Beam Black Label ( Read more... )

What a downer of a movie. LOL

I started watching it and I just couldn't finish it. It was too depressing. I heard the ending wasn't half bad though.

SO MUCH DOWNER. But as to the ending, not too horrible if you can get through all the BAD. happen.

The book is even more depressing, but very, very, good.

I did a double take when I saw Bobby, too. XD

oh, can you tell me more? I'm interested since I haven't read the book, and I'm always interested in characterization. As far as the movie goes, it was strangely convenient and neat, that ending, after such unrelenting horror.

I read the book and it was very bleak, too. I'd only bother to watch the movie because of Viggo... but not very enthusiastic about seeing it at all.

The father (Viggo) and mother (Charlize Theron, in flashbacks) were wonderful. The child was not of their caliber. Robert Duvall in his all of 5 min. or so was also wonderful. Altogether, I would not watch this again, no way.
