"I would drown us in blood to keep you safe," Anders said.
And he does, he drowns them all in blood, and against all odds
they manage to slip away unnoticed. They go to the mountains
and hide in caves filled with spider corpses and eat nothing but
their own guilt until the templars find them by accident. Then there's just
more blood to drown in and more reasons to start laughing. Anders cuts his hair
and Hawke shaves his beard and they board a ship to Ferelden.
It will be a lifetime of running away, a reality neither of them is a stranger to.
The end couldn't be sadder. Or happier.
