There are so many wonderful words in the English language. Vacuous, inane, and ill-informed would be much better adjectives to describe this small-minded individual and her father. It is unfair to the mentally retarded to equate them with the truly ignorant. However, given the apparent lack of brain matter in the person you were speaking to, I can understand your use of the word. I'm sure the choice of more appropriate descriptives would have merely exposed the further nescience of this clueless girl - i.e. she wouldn't have known what the hell you were saying.

I admit I use "retard" too often when calling out stupidity. But you're right about this: she definitely wouldn't have understood "vacuous."
Oh, generation. We form a chorus of protest when Facebook implements new advertising strategy, but we can't tell our parents to wise up about Islam and gay marriage. It feels like a Pink Floyd song crippled midway by writers' block.
