Sam's Lux Reunion

It finally happened last night. I finally met the stupidest person ever. Oddly enough, I've known her since the beginning of this year, I'd just never talked to her, really, so I'd never had the chance to really absorb her deep, deep idiocy.

It finally happened. I finally had a conversation with someone who genuinely thought that Barack Obama was a ( Read more... )

I thought college was supposed to expand and illuminate critical thinking skills. Any five year-old can say, "'cause my dad says so."

There are so many wonderful words in the English language. Vacuous, inane, and ill-informed would be much better adjectives to describe this small-minded individual and her father. It is unfair to the mentally retarded to equate them with the truly ignorant. However, given the apparent lack of brain matter in the person you were speaking to, I can understand your use of the word. I'm sure the choice of more appropriate descriptives would have merely exposed the further nescience of this clueless girl - i.e. she wouldn't have known what the hell you were saying.

For every young person like you, 'drew, who give me hope for the future, there are twenty people like your Hillary who make me wince and lament. Dear Echo Boomers - your parents do not have all the answers. They never did and they never will. Please learn to think for yourselves.

We're echo boomers? I've never heard that term... I kind of like it.

I admit I use "retard" too often when calling out stupidity. But you're right about this: she definitely wouldn't have understood "vacuous."

Oh, generation. We form a chorus of protest when Facebook implements new advertising strategy, but we can't tell our parents to wise up about Islam and gay marriage. It feels like a Pink Floyd song crippled midway by writers' block.

There are several terms used to describe different age groups in Generation Y. Echo Boomers are children born roughly between 1982-1995. Most of them have parents who were Baby Boomers. Echo Boomers are wedged between the MTV Generation and the Internet Generation, aka iGen.

"Welcome my son, welcome to the machine."
