Swoop's Revenge

I haven't updated for about a week. Several reasons why, among them the fact that the last days of break and the first days back at Miami were manic, packing and moving and unpacking and getting shit together for class, plus Geesp was here for a few nights and we were drunk mostly the whole time. But mainly, it's because I clipped my thumb nail a ( Read more... )

Yeah, Monday night was definitely shock and awe shit. It wouldn't have been so bad if it had been a heartbreaking-last-second-field-goal kind of loss. But no, it was just gawd awful embarrassing. Troy looked like he had packed on an extra ten pounds doing the banquet circuit.

The good news is that you didn't drop a crapload of money to endure it in person. Unfortunately, all I can do is think about the many home improvements or the car payments I could have made with the almost four thousand dollars my husband fucked away. We live and we learn.

Old Dem

P.S. John Edwards will be on Jay Leno's show tonight.

My brother dropped $500 for a ticket to The Game, and I thought that was pretty dumb. ...But $4000 is too much for anyone, save a big, evil corporation that's giving them away for more contracts. You tell your husband that super-fans don't have to do super-dumb things to prove themselves.

Huckabee will be on The Daily Show. I'm more inclined to watch that, because I hate Leno... plus, it's time to start knowing the enemy. Anyway, let me know how he does, and I'll impart the same.

Oh no - my husband didn't spend that much on a ticket alone! That was his total for the whole four-day trip - the package deal with the travel agency so he'd have a guaranteed ticket, including his airfare and deluxe room. Then add on all the money he spent in bars and restaurants and on parking passes and other shit...damn, that would have paid for a whole semester of college, including a single room, meal plan, and books for our daughter ( ... )

The more I see of Huckabee, the more I see the Republican that Democrats should worry most about. He was way more impressive on The Daily Show than Edwards was on Leno.

But the best television of the night was the debate Charlie Rose hosted on Bush's speech. I missed the speech due to class, but with Bill Kristol, Fareed Zakaria, Rahm Emanuel, and Richard Holbrook debating each others' reaction to the policies Bush is laying down, I feel like I know more about his speech than Bush does. I fucking love Public Broadcasting.
