He sat as though enthroned, on a bench along the wall across from the doorway, his long, greasy black hair tumbling down his shoulders and over the front of his light brown prison uniform, his wrists encased at either end of a double-thick stock of wood that had been both padlocked to a post embedded in the floor and attached to the

Bah, you're going by the anime's idea of Ishbal. Tut tut. I suppose it works for Kimbley's speech there, to work on Roy's guilt, but I've always preferred the manga version of Ishbal - Roy has too much to be angsty already; he doesn't need the Rockbells added to that.
LOL: “Why, of course I helped you, Major. You know what a helpful person I am. And I promise - when I get out of here, I’ll leave you to last.” In the case of Kimbley, he's practically flirting with her, there XD
I'm almost wanting it to be suicide now, just because it's the way that makes the most sense to me (especially after Kimbley's emotional attack on Mustang, thar). I'm clueless as to who else could be doing this.

I actually love the version with the Rockbell doctors, myself, mainly because of the Roy-Winry tensions and the surrounding fallout that it creates. It was actually finding out about that which made me keep watching the anime, an turned it from "just another anime" into "oooh, this has some dramatic layers!" for me.
But it's not going to play too pivotal a role in this story, anyway, so that'll be okay.
Meanwhile, I really looked forward to this whole chapter with Kimbley. If/when I rework this story to post on FF.net, I may try to make it even more tense and creepy. But I really looked forward to putting Roy and Kimbley face to face, and getting Kimbley to freak Roy out. Hee!

So, I know who the first and second people to figure this out will be ;)

And I think at least one person figured everything out before Roy ever left the room. ;-)
