In the statement on this website he seems hopeful that he'll be able to get back onstage for the tail end of the London run - here's hoping he's right! And here's hoping the crowds can console themselves with the fact that they're still seeing Patrick Stewart, and that they won't be harsh toward David's understudy.
Thanks for letting me know about the broken link, have replaced it.
David's understudy has actually been getting standing ovations and I'm sure that fans aren't going to take out their disappointment on him. But I can't help but feel sorry for those who booked tickets for the express purpose of seeing DT. If I had a ticket, I would definitely still go and enjoy the performance, but it wouldn't be quite as exciting.
Yeah, agreed. I've heard the understudy is quite good, and it'd still be worth it to see him and especially to see Patrick Stewart. If I were in the UK right now I'd probably be trying to buy a ticket off a disappointed fangirl.
Haha. I don't know why, but the image of a "disappointed fangirl" wandering aimlessly through London crying out to see the Danish Prince, is delightfully amusing.
