I'd like to post about how nice it is to be home, how I spent my evening running errands with my mom and sharing photos and stories with my parents and then got to see friends for a while which was really great, but.. man

I've never been without a dog in my life, but I think I understand. :( I'm actually searching for the right dog right now as well, after losing my Tia... I already have a dog who I ADORE to massive and somewhat obsessive extents (I keep hugging her and snuggling with her, it's a good thing she's tolerant, haha), but I still feel like as long as there's space in my life for another dog I must fill that place. Hence the fact that I've been searching constantly the last week--online, going to the pound, and so on

I can't say anything about animals, but I know I go through withdrawals when I don't see people, since my closest friends are 200 miles away. Whenever I see them, I'm usually very affectionate (which normally freaks me out) :C
maybe a small rodent would help? if can you take it to school?
Aw, I know how you feel and it really hurts. I'm so sorry. :( I had the same hesitation about keeping Oscar since he wasn't anything like my old dog. He's a massive 'tard compared to my Cody, who was like the dog equivalent of a Navy Seal. xD I guess you either find your dog or your dog finds you. So...I hope you find each other.
It's so weird that our dogs were named Cody, but it's even more of a coincidence that Oscar looks a lot like your Cody. Same colors and very similar pattern---he even sticks his legs out when he lies down.
I know how you feel about the dog situation.. It's only been a year and some months for my anniversary but.. the pain will always be there and sometimes I even dream of Shadow.. does that happen to you? ( the dreaming part? ) oh well, all I know is that you'll never get over your precious puppy but someday something will help ease your pain and you'll be able to remember the good times with your puppy and have new good memories with the next. Always here for you <3.
