I just read online that Microsoft offers "Windows 8 Pro" as download for only 30 €, this deal will only be valid until January 31st 2013.

Well, Windows 8 hasn't had the best reviews. I know it doesn't appeal to me at all, though I realize we will all be condemned to use it eventually...

Presently I have a 5 yr old PC, so I use Vista, which I have found quite tolerable. I am actually most tempted by a Mac for my next computer...

Obviously one can always download Windows of some type or other for use on a Mac.

So you are suffering from having fun with Vista too? Yes, after a while it's okay-ish.
I worked with Windows 7 for a few months and that was nice and fast.

I've never worked with a Mac so I'd be afraid to waste quite some time to find anything - and then it might not have all programs I'm used too...

I have windows 8 and you couldn't pay me to get it again XDDDD. I mean, it's not horrifically bad, but I don't use any of the special features and things I'm used to are gone so that's annoying. It's also more like some of my favorite freebie software doesn't work well with it /:0\\\\\\

I have heard many reactions just like lovespiral's. So I am very wary of Windows 8.

I have used a friend's Mac, and had no problem. Some of the function keys have different names, but it is easy to adapt to. Most of the more popular programs have Mac versions. It is also possible to install Windows on a Mac and use it alternatively if needed.
