Mel and I are back from Paris. Sound and safe and a bit poorer, but we did get to see A LOT (pictures will follow in the next days) and we had very good weather almost all of time ^__________^

For today's post I'll summarise our first day
I know what happened on September 11th (2010!) )

Glad the initial lack of trains resolved itself. My solution in recent years has been not to take the RER, which can be inconvenient with luggage, but book a shuttle ahead of time on the internet which picks you up at the airport and takes you to your hotel door.

A lovely option [if you are in Paris on July 14th] is to take that same boat on the Seine, have the cruise, then it anchors at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. And you have a first row seat for the fireworks [we brought a picnic, rather than pay for a dinner, the other option on a sister boat]

Hope you have a wonderful time in my favorite city!

Shuttle might be a good idea, but I'm very much afraid of traffic jams (can't avoid having them in bigger cities) + the trip itself was already expensive and we simply can't afford to "throw" money out of the window, if there are cheaper and equally good options available ^_^ (the saved money was wisely invested into macarons ^_~ )

There are so many cruise companies, with so many offers, it's really difficult to choose one, I felt.
Fireworks + Eiffel Tower surely sounds like WIN though ^_______^

お帰り!
That was really one eventful day!
Took a cruise on the Seine years ago (like, 15 years or so xD) and it was really beautiful *.*
Ah~ You made me want to go to Paris once again - maybe next year.

The one time I did it was about 10 years ago ^^;;;

Hopefully you can manage to go next year. It's amazing how different the city looks for you, once you are a bit older ^^;

Bombenalarm???

Also in Paris hat sich niemand irgendwie auffällig verhalten, zumindest nicht da, wo wir waren = beunruhigt wegen irgendwas.
Was war denn wo los? o.O

Bitte schön ^_______^

I understand perfectly about traffic jams fear, I have taken the RER for that same reason. And it is the cheapest way. I guess the key is to travel light, as I always try. You know the old saw: lay out your clothes and your money, take half the clothes and double the money [hoping one can do the latter!]

My info is 4 years old, but I have a good memory of a fun, cheap, often crowded little restaurant called La Brasserie St-Benoit, close to St Germain des Prés.
