It has happened to me to end up with Chinese made subs, and they were awful. It was Satomi Sakkenden, and I had bought the DVD! They were almost incomprehensible. Happily, there is a good version on one of the LJ sites, so I was able to download it and replace the bad version.
The peculiar thing is how the names end up changed in those cases: clearly their kanji is read in Chinese, and no effort is made to get the Japanese version.
I really don't get what is soooo difficult about just once listening to the movie. They can HEAR the names, there is no need to translated them just by kanji -.-;;; Obviously "professional" translators get the script and do their translation by that, instead of simply watching the movie once -.-;;;
