 Thank you! I'm so glad that you're enjoying it, and that the characters are coming to life for you. As to what happens next -- well, the next chapter was just posted. I'm heading home for the holidays, and wanted to get it set before I left!

I friended you and am eagerly awaiting the next installment of Christine's Tale. Go write more! I want to know what happens next or...or...or a disaster beyond your imagination will occur! Yeah! OK, so yes, I did steal that line from Lord Lloyd-Webber's masterpiece to use for my own twisted demented phanatically obsessive purposes, but whaddyagonnado? :)
(Bursts into thunderous applause at what I have read so far.) Hurrah! Author! Author!
letter carriers don't stand around outside the Opera in case they're wanted, alas.
Actually, they probably did. Considering the high volume of bourgeois and nobility in attendance, letter carriers probably did hang about the opera in hopes of catching errands.
What's interesting here is Christine's elucidation of why she looks ill. This scene in the book is from Raoul's point of view, and I'm sure that makes her condition seem much worse than it actually is.
