My crazy theory:

He was helping with Scouts over the summer, and when the Troupe Leaders found out he was gay, he was kicked out of Scouts (which pissed off his dad something fierce).

However, the reason he was found out was because there was another teen helping out Scouts that was his age and happened to look like Kurt, and half of a troupe found them making out in the woods during a nature hike (the other boy was kicked out of Scouts too).

Mystery Ex-Scout is totally penpals with Dave now, since they go to different schools; it will be these letters that Azimio finds and pushes Dave out of the closet with later this season.

I'm thinking something to do with Alex (from the Glee project) and crossdressing.
I really have no idea what could be surprising. I just really hope he gets a huge storyline. And Kurt as a boyfriend. Just saying.

If his jacket-knocking return involves an awesome audition for the Glee Club, I may do something drastic.

And sexy.

But mostly sexy.

There has been so many wonderful fics exploring different scenarii and possibilities for Dave during the summer...
Something tells me we could see one of these stories become real in the show.

My personal theory : The fact Dave was nowhere to be seen during the last few episodes after Prom Queen was artfully (it's a crazy theory, I know) planned, and we will finally know what happened to him after prom, and why he isn't there at the beginning of the school year.

Some random guesses :
>The Good = after the prom debacle, he found a boyfriend during the summer, and he's ready to come out at school
>The Bad = he ran out and lived by himself for a few months, as a homeless person. When he comes back to Mc Kinley he's a changed man, and coming out is nothing compared to what he experienced in the street.
>The Ugly = Failed suicide attempt, he finally comes back to school and Kurt fells guilty for not having cared about his disappearance.

I definitely think the interview when he said that we'll find out where he's been points to your personal theory. I mean, wouldn't it be hilarious if everyone's been bitching and moaning this whole time about his absence and it turns out to actually be a plot point? I would die laughing.

I will completely love it if his absence is a plot point. Especially if that means we get more of him the rest of the season. Plus they've only shot like episodes, so if we get him in 5 or 6, that still leaves plenty of time for great story lines.

"It's definitely nothing that anybody is going to guess," he promises.
Oh, Max, I think you underestimate the lengths we've gone with our speculation already. <3

I'm willing to bet some fanfiction has got it right. Or at least in the right direction.

Heck, I like the slave fics, nothing can surprise me anymore. What does he think we did all summer?

Dave's gonna be a werewolf or a vampire when he gets back. Just you wait. It's totally happening, lol. No one would EVER guess that that could happen on Glee.

What does he think we did all summer?
This statement is endlessly amusing to me. So naive, Max; it's adorable.

So funny, I was just reading a story where Kurt was a vampire. Granted it was Kinn and he had to get his first love to love him back to be cured but still . . . A similar Kurtofsky version would work for me.
