"venting in a slash comm just feels wrong"

... says the person that uses the disclaimers of her fics as insults.
Or is it every time the same nasty line?

One day I'll be done complaining about such things. Not today though. Because people should mind them, and yet they don't. Is all a person needs just a certain degree of popularity and a 'couldn't ( Read more... )

ha, the amount of time I've spend inwardly raging about this post and all its contents.

So many precious minutes of my life wasted, fml.

Tbh, though I commented myself there, I didn't read the comments that carefully. However, whatever anyone else is doing, I don't think it means others should be doing it as well. I mean, just because someone insults whoever, does it mean others should stoop to their level?

Maybe I'm missing something. Enlighten me.

The bit in italics is a quote from a comment to the post on alldayfootiecp, yes.
I agree with what you say, entirely. I'd never say it's OK to do something because that person does it.
What I want with this entry here is to point out the hypocrisy of just that person who made the comment. There are many people who say one thing when an issue is addressed and then turn around and do the opposite, and others read it and don't give a damn. So many of the people I know are best mates with her, no one cares. Maybe the next time someone sees an offensive disclaimer or author's note somewhere, they will think about it or confront the user.

I see.
As to hyporisy - couldn't agree more. If I had a nickle for every time someone agrees with me some sort of decency should be kept and go on to insult someone I like... *sigh* It seems that people truly fail to have any basic understanding that people might feel the same love for people/teams they themselves detest... (I think I wrote something to that effect on alldayfootiecp)

During the last year though, esp. on LJ I developed some ability to ignore most crap. Lately I hadn't the time - when I have, I write, I hardly read, so I could have easily missed offensive stuff (btw, I get offended vicariously even when people offend players/team I don't like). Also, I've started skipping certain users and comms on my f-list just to spare myself. With so little time, I don't need to expose myself to idiocy!

As to confronting whoever it is, IDK. I've rather lost hope with some people. What good would that do? One can only call her on hypocrisy, really.

ugh ugh ugh- yes they seem to think so

It's that "befriend the bully" playground attitude that if I go along with the bully, I'm less likely to become a target.

I don't know, I give most people I know more credit than that... but with many others I've seen this attitude really is quite evident. I've never understood that.

What happened? I've been missing in action for a lot of the time, and this sounds nasty and unpleasant. (not you, of course, but what you're referring to)

It's just things that always have been going on. You know, people carelessly or maliciously insulting players or managers, and acting as if they'd never do. Never mind. I just need to hate on such people.

Everything is going well for you? :)
