Oh, and I'm not done with Deathly Hallows yet. GASP! I decided to let myself read it slowly(-ish) considering I'm for once living with people who don't read it lightening fast. Yay slow reading!
Don't feel bad. Even though I finished in 2 days (which is lightning fast for me), I still got put to shame by Michelle who had the book read in a matter of hours after we got it together. No matter what I do, I'm not a fast reader. I just forced myself to spend many hours on it this weekend for fear of spoilers coming at me from all directions before too long.
It took me 2 weeks to reader Half Blood Prince and I enjoyed the leisurely pace. I prefer it, honestly. Maybe I'm just making excuses, but as a writer, I kind of find it more enjoyable to take my time and actually READ the sentences. The author spent months, maybe even years, crafting every last word in the book, so the least I can do is make sure I enjoy it all. I like to imagine all those speed reading techniques they teach you for the SAT's and crap are actually quite offensive to a worthy author. LOL - or maybe I'm just jealous that I can't read fast at all!
I'm liking taking my time with it. When I do sit down with it, it goes quickly, but I don't want it to be a race, either. Like you said, I feel like I owe it to myself to read it longer. You only get the first read once.
