Nothing Lasts Forever

SEDATION

Around the turn of the latest century, I was in my mid-20s.  I wasn’t making great money, but it spent like plenty, for living as a single person with not so much in the way of family obligations or financial responsibilities (funny how that works).  In many respects, I had more disposal income then than I do now, even while pulling in ( Read more... )

This is awesome.... though I do identify more with Gramps than you. But hey, you do like some guys with Cordell in their names :)

I don't think you're quite to that point yet!

What a great look back. You did an excellent job with Grandpa Cabbie. I imagine the music world can get a little odd at times. Somehow having a child can change how we view our pasts.

Thanks... my impression of him is pretty limited, so I can paint a clear picture as I saw him, but I'm sure it doesn't do him justice, though I am glad people are able to get a sense of how I perceived him.

I spent more time in a totally different kind of music world in my formal education years than in the world of professional music... I guess I just never really broke through that wall.

I think our kids are a great reference point for how we frame most of the world around us, and I'm okay with that! :-)

I think it’s hard to understand how life experiences can shape a person until you’re older. Not that you have the same experience, but you can understand better how people get there, I think. Great job!

I agree... I like to think of myself as a person who is sympathetic and can relate to others, even when I haven't walked in their shoes, but it takes a little bit more living to gain a better perspective on life enough to be able to see yourself in their experiences, even if they aren't so similar, but life makes it easier to find the common thread.

(That is, for most people, anyway... assuming they're not the types who become more centrally focused the older they get. *eye roll*)

I love your partner name anagrams for these! I’m definitely enjoying both you and your partner’s autobiographical takes lately. In addition to your strong entries, you’ve been an amazingly energetic idoller, too, leaving beautiful detailed feedback that makes me want to start convos with you on your comments on other people’s entries. I want to say thanks for that great energy you’re spreading here!

Thanks, I do enjoy coming up with those! (Heheheh.... I just realized if you and I were partners, it would probably be Ton-aSoup! XD)

I've actually endeavored this season to write nothing but non-fiction, because I'm motivated by wanting to create a legacy for our family of the stories of our history, so I'm grateful it's being appreciated.

I also really appreciate your feedback on my feedback... that's very meaningful to me, and I'm humbled and honored! Also, I don't imagine anyone of us would mind people opening up on our pages across comments to communicate with something more than a general impression of the work presented... I believe we're all here because we want a communicative sense of connection to others, so if you're inclined to comment on my comments, I would certainly welcome the exchange, and I imagine most of the "hosts" would, as well! <3

Thanks! I've been meaning to write it for a while, so I had some fun with telling the story, even though there's an element of tragedy to it. :-/
