Stomping Grounds

My brother is a cop in the district where I live. He’s the third of my 4 big brothers (I also have 1 younger brother), and it feels good when he tells me, as he did by text this morning (he works the late night shift and gets off at 8am - his choice... it’s where he gets the most action, and, well, a lot of cops are in it for the ( Read more... )

Good for you for even considering putting something together for your neighborhood! I have had several run-ins like the one you described with the kids in your yard and I've been living in my house for 9 years. The area has a lot of rent houses with high turnover, so it's constantly changing.

Oh, it's fairly easy for me... I have a lot of experience in that type of thing, and, it's much more rewarding when it's going to benefit my household and family and folks around me than when I'm just doing it as part of my job. But I've always enjoyed it. I don't think I'm ever going to be one of those "Get Off My Lawn!" cranky old farts. Kids are always going to be kids... nothing scary about that. They just need to be told what's what.

Thanks for reading!

You describe so wonderfully everything I miss about Minnesota summers.

Aw. I suppose it's not quite the same in the UK, eh? Over all, I'm not overly fond of summer, in that, I wouldn't consider it my favorite season... I much prefer fall, but, I do love what it does to people around these here parts. Do you get stateside for a visit home much anymore?

Thank you for sharing a slice of your life and your insight. It made me want to take a walk around my town and made this Philly girl smile!

Oh, Philly! What a beautiful town! So rich with history! I could spend a week there, and would still have only barely scratched the surface. I'm an East Coast gal myself, and have always had a strong love for New England. I'm glad our humble little hamlet here brought your lovely home to mind.

I have never heard anyone other than a Philadelphian say it was beautiful! Does this heart good. There is an incredible amount of art and history in Philly. A lot of local flavor, theaters and so many other points of interest. We just get billed as the 'red-headed step sister' to New York. Its what makes us scrappy!

Thank you for saying that! :D

Well, it's true about New York that it's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there, though, I could see myself settling down in Philly. Though, to be truthful, I'm honestly just a touch more in tune with Boston. If I had my way, though, and wasn't bound by the laws of physics, I'd probably love to pick up Minneapolis, and move an island I'd create off the East Coast that would be home to all three.
