Elemental Treasure

That Queen Bitch labled him a Pirate.  He who served the king with honor, who scoured the known continents and braved the unknown to assuage her petty and salacious appetites.  He who gave his dying breath to safeguard the people of this land, a land that never accepted him within its folds, that which banished him to the sea.  ( Read more... )

This reminded me of the story of Ching Shih -- one of the most powerful pirates in history. She commanded a fleet of 1800 ships... and most people in The West don't even know her name.

Hell hath no fury as a woman enraged. I know that. Oh yeah. Queen Bitch is gonna get hers... and *HOW*!

Fascinating piece. Thanks for sharing.

I had not heard of her, either, but, I'm totally intrigued now. Thanks so much for sharing that morsel of luscious history! And for reading, of course. ;)

Somehow, I'm not surprised that you and m_malcontent led each other down a piratical path. Really, I could not be sure which of you would be more responsible for it!

Father, may I find for you the peace that you deserve, and may you forgive me for what I must do to take it.
Loved this phrasing here. It's perfect, period-adventure-novel wording, befitting a strong character with a great story to tell.

Off to visit the other side...

I take full responsibility for suggesting both pirate and father/daughter, though, really, I didn't have to twist his arm very much at all. I'm glad you liked it... thanks for reading!

They called her father a Pirate, so she will live that out. It seems only justified given the terrible things her father went through to try and defend the people. I really enjoyed this pairing. You two did a wonderful job of creating very believable characters in a historical kind of story.

Yeah... kind of crazy that she felt she had to become a criminal to prove he had not been one. Glad you liked it, and thanks for reading!

Thanks! I've never really tried anything like this before, but intersections are always a fun place to explore possibilities. I'd never even written any short stories before my first one here two years ago... I really enjoy it, and the ability to collaborate. My partner was a joy to work with, we latched on instantly to the concept, finished each other's thoughts, shared similar voices, and we're both pleased with the results. This was a blast! Glad you liked it, and thanks for reading!
