OMG I bought my tickets to the 12:01 showing!  I can't believe this is it!

My 23 year old son is going with me.  This has been such a journey for the 2 of us.  Way back when I saw a little article in Newsweek--the book wasn't that big in the US yet.  I mentioned it to my then 11 year old son.  He said I don't like that kind of story mom...He got ( Read more... )

I know exactly what you mean. My son is 20 (will be 21 in January). We started out with me reading the books to him, and we just continued that way - even when he was old enough to read them for himself. Up until Deathly Hallows. That one he read on his own. We still go see the movies together - and bring his dad along so it's a whole family thing. But yes - it's like the end of an era.
My son also know all about my fanfic writing and reading. He humors me. :)

You touched a heartstring with this post. I introduced my mother to Potter. We all went to the first movie on her birthday (her 65th!), and I'm so glad to say I dragged her out to the movies to see TDH part 2 with me. I got all choked up during just because I had my mom there with me to witness the end the same way we shared the beginning.
How awesome that you have the same with your son. XOXOXO!
