Standing up to being bullied

So Amazon, a company I've done a lot of business with, is trying to bully/intimidate/threaten my publisher Hachette into doing what it wants. This is having a devastating impact on Hachette's authors, who have done nothing wrong. You can read more about the issue here ( Read more... )

ARGH! Are you serious? I did not know this about Book Depository. That is usually who I buy from and was just getting ready to place an order with them. Curses!

Yeah, I stopped buying from them years ago because of a) bad personal experience with their impersonal service, which amounted to: We're a big company, you're a little person, get over yourself, and b) bullying tactics.

Acting like a big bully is nothing new for Amazon. They've been doing it for years. They treat the people who work in their warehouses poorly too. I try not to give them any of my cash but most of the new hard covers I buy come from Amazon because I pay for them with gift cards that I get for filling out online surveys. With the price of hard covers that's pretty much the only way they fit into my budget.
