As far as I'm concerned, 2,000 words is almost flash fiction!

It's been a long time since I've written anything that short. Most of my stories tend to be in the 5,000-8,000 range. Which turns out to be a pain when it comes to marketing horror these days, since lately many horror magazines seem to have 2,500 words as their maximum.

Yeah, well most of mine tend to be more the 75,000 to 120,000 range, so there! You're right about 2,000 words being almost flash fiction, I think. It's difficult to develop characters in that length. The shortest thing I have written was 4,000 words. I applaud those who can right that short, though. It's funny because when I worked in visual arts, it was the other way around; my best works were the small intimate pieces rather than large-scale.

Besides, you don't need to worry about this contest because it's for unpublished writers, and you've had a ton of sales this year alone!
