It might seem strange for someone who writes science fiction, but I enjoy reading historical fiction quite a lot. I have a special fondness for novels written against the backdrop of English history because it illustrates so well that personality, talent, and circumstance had as much to do with who was in power as birth. I didn't read the 'not review' because I didn't want to spoil it, but I will say that the guy at the comic/game store I visited yesterday said it was one of the best superhero movies he's ever seen, and is probably one of the best action movies he's ever seen.

Aw, damn. I was being too clever and trying to not read the post from another LJ friend, and I put it in the wrong post.

Figures.

Anyway, I do have a question in that are these occasional freebies for Prime users only or not. I can't say that I've seen those specials before for my wife's Fire, but she doesn't have Prime.

Mike-- the book was free for everyone. Lots of publishers have taken to making a books free for a day or two, especially when the author has a sequel or a related new book coming out. I follow some blogs that post about them, and I also maintain an email list of Kindle owners/app users. When I see a book that I think is of general interest (not from a Christian publisher, not a romance, not a "How to Make a Something Most People Don't Care About") I send an email to the list.
