OK, it didn't work so well, after all. I get to select my region. I get to pick out a book, which is not available for the kindle in my region. A response arrives assuring me that it is available. A link is provided that directs me to a webpage with the message: "Not yet available in your region."

Oh well. I sent them a message to see if they can fix...

That's disappointing. But hopefully, since they offer non-US regions they do plan to make it work other places.
