what exactly does a 'spiritualist' do? Also, are you one of the artists at work?

If it were one week later, I'd be able to make it. Alas, alack.

if "working" means "slaving for event" then, yes.

I'm sure I'll put stuff on display, but I'm pretty much running the music portion of the event =P Oh well, add event planning to my resume-of-random.

ha I don't know what the spiritualists are...I think fortune tellers? At some point people were just adding shit to the list. Clowns! Aliens! Arnold Schwarzenegger!

since you're doing so much for this event, you should just go ahead and strangle the person who made this flyer. i'll wait here while you do that.

I like that the event will have a piercer and a tattoo artist. I think it's really cool that people are acknowledging body modification as a art form. You would like the tattoo I got last night (a cover-up of the horse) -- it's Georgia O'Keefe's "Black and Purple Petunias." I told the tattoo artist about your work because it reminds me of O'Keefe's! I told her about how your stuff incorporates nature and science and it's pretty and colorful and, well, oddly sexual. She said she'd like to see your stuff!

Sorry I can't be there. Sounds like a good event.

heheh sexual flowers...sounds like a hot tattoo, you should put up a picture!

How goes the kiddo counseling? Are they in day camp or something else?

yeah I'm kinda looking forward to the festival and kinda dreading it. I don't know if I'm much of an event planner, but art and music and booze is a great combination.
everyone keeps asking me if I'm selling there or at the summer fest at YSU (which costs $125 to enter, christ), and I'm like no, just helping out...I'm gonna focus on doing more online promotions instead

The camp is just a day camp. I'm there from 12:30 until 5:00 everyday. It's really not that bad of a job -- it's better than working at Taco Bell!

Good luck with selling stuff. It's too bad you're not doing the Summer Festival of the Arts -- a lot of people buy stuff there.

I think I will next year, but I looked at the application and it's very strict, so it'll take some work.

Like you can only sell items from one category (all paintings, all small sculptures etc) so I'd have to work on one body of work, and then hope they accept me into the show.

also here's what i e-mailed them:

subject: Your flyer for the Youngstown Rocks the Arts Music Festival

body: …Is possibly the worst-designed flyer I’ve ever seen. Normally, this wouldn’t bother me, but this flyer is so awful, so illegible, that it FAILS TO FUNCTION AS A FLYER. Have you no concept of negative space? Of the fact that people are lazy and aren’t going to stare at a flyer for more than 2 seconds before they give up on figuring out what it’s supposed to promote? I assume-given the quality of your website and portfolio---that you normally make yard sale signs for family members, but the fact that someone might have paid you to make this piece of unreadable garbage (and that you would willingly admit to making it) gives me a headache and possibly a stomach ache. You may impress middle-aged people who “aren’t too good at the computers,” but nearly anyone with 5 minutes of MSPaint training could produce something better than you. Please stop or get better.

Constructive criticismly yours,
- Bob
