If the medication is dealing with your symptoms, then the symptoms are likely an allergy of some kind. I can tell the difference in my own symptoms, since the ones that come with allergies for me feel "itchy" inside, in a way that cold etc viruses do not... but then I have been dealing with allergies since I was in my 30's
