brain too fried to work, must be time to check in and let mom know I am alive

True to the patterns I have developed since moving to Sweden, I haven't posted much lately. I am just not on the computer much during my leisure time, and have been too busy at work to do so when I should be working. However, I am still reading lj regularly--now that I have a smart phone I read LJ while doing my morning situps. A most efficient ( Read more... )

I would recommend you consider jerky of some sort if you would eat it (I have sadly failed to remember if you are vegetarian or not).... compact and high in protein.

The reason you can't remember is that I am only sort of a vegetarian. I mostly don't eat meat, but once every few years someone offers me some wild game, or meat from an animal they raised themselves and can assure me that it was happy, and if I happen to be hungry just then, and it smells good, I eat it, and enjoy it. On those occasions I have not subsequently experienced the painful problems with my digestion that eating store bought meat causes. Therefore, if I could find some jerky that was home-made by someone who either hunted the game or raised the domesticated animal themselves, I could probably eat it and enjoy it. Sadly, I have no idea where to find such a thing, so, for now, the suggestion, while a good one, isn't one I can apply to this trip.

Will you have hot water available in your hotel? Or could you bring a little plug-in pot with you (one of those small ones just large enough for a cup of tea or soup)? That might expand your options.

No idea if there will be hot water available, and I don't have a little water heater. I had a roommate at a summer school once who came from Poland, and she had a little water heater that one immersed in one's tea cup to heat water. It was a cool bit of very portable technology (would easily fit into a jacket pocket for transport), but for the most part I don't feel the need for hot water or hot food when I travel. I would be content with bringing along left over cooked rice and veg, or pasties, etc. and eating them cold, if I only had the room in the bags, and some way to keep them cool when I got there.

Hmm... well you are definitely in the right country for there being a high likelihood that you will know someone who hunts their own and makes jerky, but yes, the timescale i's probably going to preclude it being a possibility for this trip.

How do you read anything while doing situps at the same time??

One hand holds my phone, the other holds the back of my neck, both arms move with my upper body, so my eyes stay the correct distance from the screen. However, if I feel inspired to reply I tend to save that for the leg lifts portion of the sequence, as I need two hands to type, and if I let go of my neck while doing the situps it starts to hurt eventually.
