I was internet-less all weekend, because my landlord is technologically incompetent and refuses to acknowledge it and ask for fucking help before she fucks everything up and then she just runs off to a friends house all weekend and leaves me with the results of her stupidity, like, Jesus, learn from your mistakes woman!

I've seen that. It's...there, I suppose, but I honestly didn't think of it until I read it. To me it's one of those things where if racial issues are a hot button topic for you it's probably going to be all you can see, but I don't think it was intentional. In fact I think most of the unfortunate implications are probably the result of trying to avoid other unfortunate implications (can you imagine the shit storm if instead of the evil invading army being all white guys they were black?).

I mean, yes, Jake becomes one of the Na'vi and plays an important role in leading them in the final confrontation. That, and all the implications you want to read into it, is there. But at the same time, I mean, they are aliens. That's a little different then just humans from a different country. He leads them mostly because they literally have absolutely no way to know about the technology or strategy of their enemy because they are from different planets. I don't think the writers were trying to be any deeper then that ( ... )
