I honestly don't know which would be worse, the fail being the result of pure stupidity, or the result of the writers trying to piss off critics just because they can.
Damon is just...If I thought they were actually portraying his as a villain, I'd be more able to accept his behavior (like in the first half of season 1) but they're not. We're supposed to see him as this poor tortured woobie who can't catch a break and I'm sorry but no. I'm not going to feel sorry for someone who feels no guilt or remorse for the things he's done/is doing. Especially not when he blames his actions on his 'love' for Elena. Like it's her fault he's a murderous rapist
