I discovered Korean Television this weekend. No, I don't understand a word they are saying. But! They're showing Olympic coverage with NO commercials! Granted, they're showing just Korean athletes, BUT! it means I get to watch more than just swimming and gymnastics. I don't get HD channels, so all that the American stations show is Michael ( Read more... )

When I lived in Michigan, I'd always watch the Olympics on the Canadian channel because they had fewer commercials and less fluff. Plus, they'd show all kinds of random athletes.

You really should check out MSNBC and USA (I'd say CNBC too, but they're mostly covering Softball and Boxing, while Oxygen is handling Equestrian and Telemundo is handling soccer) if you want that kinda stuff kara. I watched almost every round of women's sabre, at least for the US women.

Hell, Erin and I watched Korea vs. Germany Team handball last night - and then water polo. The variety of sports is out there, and the variety of nations (saw Korea vs. China archery and a women's 30m shooting competition that was all over the place for nations) you just gotta turn it away from pure NBC coverage.

I don't get Oxygen. USA seems to only show law and order marathons. And at the time at least, MSNBC wasn't showing anything either. :\

USA and MSNBC handle the late night through early evening shifts -- gotta use a VCR or a Tivo.

2 AM through Noon for USA, like 9 AM to 5 PM for MSNBC. Then CNBC takes over at 5, then it rotates back to NBC for the 8 PM to 2 AM shift.

The Olympics basically are on 24/7, and keep in mind that they're supposed to be streaming just about everything on their website too - though I've not checked that out yet, so I can't speak to the quality of it.

Handball is *awesome*, and a huuge sport over here (at least for women). The Norwegian women's team is going for gold in the Olympics this year, and I think they just might get it :D

Wish I had a tv and was good at getting up ridiculously early to see things :\
