That was weird. One second he was still running and the next he was flat on the ground with his nose in the dirt. Now that he thought of it, it wasn't that weird since he knew he made a wrong step. That would be the reason why he fell and why his ankle was hurting right now.

"Aiba-kun, are you okay?" A voice above his head asked right before the face of his coach came into his vision. Slowly he nodded, taking the reached out hand to help him up.

"Yes I'm fine. I need to be careful where to put my feet." Slowly he put some weight on his hurt foot, relieved when he noticed he still could even though it hurt. His coach must have seen the pain on his face.

"I'll take you to the doctor's office." Aiba shook his head, pointing at the other students of the track and field team who were gathering around them to indicate they would need the coach to train them.

"I can go there myself, I'll be fine." He tried to walk towards the school building but a hand on his shoulder stopped him.

"Aiba-kun, don't be ridiculous. I don't want you to hurt yourself even more when there are people here who can help you. If you don't want me to go, Nabe-kun will go with you." The boy called Nabe nodded his head franticly and offered Aiba his shoulder to lean on. Aiba knew it was of no use to go against the will of his coach and just leaned on his teammate as they walked towards the big school building. As soon as they were in front of the doctor's office Aiba turned to the other boy.

"Thanks, I'll manage from here." Nabe nodded and ran back to the training fields. Aiba winced when he limped towards the door of the doctor's office and knocked. When he didn't hear anything he slowly opened the door, seeing the doctor in front of a half naked boy on the bed in the room.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were busy Ohno-sensei." He muttered and stepped back, wanting to close the door again.

"It's okay Aiba-kun, I'm almost done. I'm sure Sakurai-kun wouldn't mind if you wait inside. Sit down, it looks like you shouldn't be standing on that leg now." Masaki looked at the boy on the bed, covered with bruises and bowed slightly to him as he slowly got inside. The boy named Sakurai just ignored him, looking away as soon as their eyes met. Masaki sighed and lowered himself on the big couch in the room, wincing a little when he felt his ankle again. Silently he watched the doctor finish up the wounds on the back of the other boy. He wondered what had happened to this boy to end up like this, covered with bruises over his back and chest and even some on his face. It looked like he had been in a fight but he knew it would be impolite to ask, even more because he didn't know the other student at all. But there was something about him that caught Aiba's eye, something he couldn't put his finger on but he interested him right away. The bruises on his round face looked somewhat out of place, even more because his eyes seemed to have something gentle but at the same time something sad in them.

"And that's the last one, you are done. Make sure you clean those wounds tonight and don't take a bath today and tomorrow, that would only be very painful and not good for the healing process." The boy on the bed slowly nodded and pulled his shirt over his head. Masaki couldn't help to think that Sakurai actually had a quite impressive body, which made his cheeks heat up a little. He wondered if the other boy saw that as their eyes met for a short moment when he walked past him towards the door. The look the other boy gave him made him shiver slightly, he looked somewhat annoyed by Masaki's presence but before he could clearly see what it really was, the boy had walked past him.

"Sakurai-kun, watch your back okay?" The doctor said, looking at the figure in the opening of the door. Sakurai nodded once before he closed the door behind him, leaving the doctor alone with Masaki. Ohno gestured him to come to the bed and carefully Masaki climbed on it, helping the doctor to take off his shoe.

"What happened to him?" Aiba asked when the man was examining his leg. He winced when the doctor moved his leg and nodded.

"Sakurai-kun? Nothing serious, just a few bruises. Things like that happen a lot in a school, nothing to worry about." Ohno reached behind him to grab a bandage.

"You on the other hand have to be more careful. Your ankle is twisted. I'll wrap it for you for now. I think you still have that elastic brace from last year at home?" Aiba nodded slowly, softly whining when Ohno started to wrap the bandage tightly around him.

"When you take the bandage off you need to put on that brace. Take as much rest as you can for a few days and no running for at least two weeks." Masaki sighed and moved his foot a little when it was fully wrapped; happily noticing it didn't hurt that much anymore.

"Can you call someone to pick you up?" Masaki looked at the doctor.

"I can walk home, it's not that far." The doctor smiled gently and shook his head.

"What did I say about taking a rest? That includes walking as less as possible, so is there anyone home to pick you up?" Masaki sighed and grabbed his phone out of his pocket. After he called his mother and asked to pick him up he stayed with Ohno for a while. At first he killed his time with looking around but soon he was bored by it and he remembered the boy from before.

"Why did he get in a fight? That Sakurai-kun?" The doctor looked up from his desk surprised.

"I didn't say he got into a fight did I?"

"No, but it looked like it right? And you told him to watch his back, so I guessed that might be it." The doctor moved his chair back in front of Aiba, looking straight in Aiba's eyes.

"I don't know, you will have to ask Sakurai-kun for that, not me." Before Aiba could ask more the door was opened and his mother stepped in with worry written all over her face.

"Masaki are you okay? Do we need to go to the hospital?" Aiba smiled and shook his head.

"I'm okay mom, just a twisted ankle. Ohno-sensei said I couldn't walk home and needed someone to pick me up." His mother turned towards the doctor, smiling while shaking his hand.

"Thank you Ohno-sensei, for taking care of my clumsy son once again. I'll take him home and make sure he will get rest." The doctor smiled and shook his head.

"That's my job right? Make sure he will take his rest. And Aiba-kun, can you come to me at the end of the week to see how it is going?" Masaki promised to come back to the doctor and after another apology and thanks from his mother they left the room. On his way back home Masaki couldn't get the student he saw in Ohno's office out of his head. He felt like he could become friends with him, a small voice in his head telling him this Sakurai could need a friend. Maybe he could ask some of his classmates about him tomorrow? With that thought in his head he fell asleep that night, his dreams taking him back to the scene earlier that day.

The morning didn't go as he had planned. He wanted to arrive at school early and wait at the entrance of the building to see if he could find Sakurai but due to traffic jam he was much later at school than he wanted. Seeing most of the students had arrived already Aiba didn't have hope to see the boy of yesterday and slowly made his way to his own classroom. When he was almost there he heard a familiar voice coming from behind.

"Oi Aiba-chan, what happened to you? Tripped over your own feet during training?" A small boy hit his back playfully, showing Masaki his trademark grin.

"Something like that yes. Twisted ankle, I'll need you to carry me around."

"That would cost you something." Masaki laughed and rolled his eyes.

"Nino is mean, not even willing to help his best friend who is injured without wanting something in exchange." The other boy smiled and took Aiba's bag out of his hand with a helping gesture. But knowing the smaller boy there would be something behind it. Aiba could know best, he and the boy, whose full name was Ninomiya Kazunari but almost everyone called him just shortly Nino, were best friends from the moment they had met in kindergarten.

"Lunch for a week and we will call it even." Aiba laughed and took his bag out of his friend's hands and walked into their classroom.

"So you can buy one of your stupid games again and ignore me for days? No thanks, buy your own lunch." Nino smirked and sat down on Aiba's table once the taller boy sat down on his chair. Still thinking about Sakurai, Aiba looked at his friend.

"Nino-chan, do you know a student named Sakurai Sho?" Nino crooked his eyebrows.

"Sakurai-kun? I don't know him personally but I know enough about him to stay away from him. Why?"

"What do you mean?"

"Why do you want to know about him?"

"No, what do you mean you know enough to stay away from him?" Nino smiled bitterly.

"That guy is no good. Ask anyone and they will all tell you a different story about him. Nobody knows the truth but everyone knows he is a lonely bastard who doesn't care about anyone and gets into fights just for the thrill all the time." Aiba thought about Nino's words. He had seen Sakurai yesterday and what Nino told him didn't fit his image he saw at all, even if he had been full of bruises from an obvious fight.

"There are also stories going around about him killing his parents." Nino turned around. "Oi Yamashi! What do you know about Sakurai?" Their classmate looked up a bit confused before walking over to the pair.

"Sakurai-kun? I heard he kidnaps children and uses them as slaves to do his household. I also heard he does work for the yakuza which is why he disappears sometimes for a few days. I don't really think either of the stories would be true but I should stay away from him if I were you, just in case." Their classmate got called away again and Nino turned back to Masaki.

"See? I don't know why you are asking but don't get involved with that guy." Masaki nodded slowly but at the same time he didn't want to believe a word that was just said. If he thought back of the boy sitting in Ohno's office he could barely imagine him as a bad person. He wanted to find out more about this Sakurai but it seemed there was only one way to get the right information; asking the person himself.
