Whiteness with just a slight touch of green, big window with lace curtains and Ohno sitting on the chair with pain clearly written on his face - those were things Masaki saw after he opened his eyes. He was confused, because in one second he was in the house, crying and begging Sakurai to come and now he was probably in the hospital bed with bandages on his wrists and a gauze dressed on his thigh. He didn’t remember how he got into this place and who saved him… or maybe who sentenced him on life in center for mentally handicapped. All he could recall was this horrible waiting and hope that Sho would come… Aiba moved a bit, to change his position, because his back was aching a bit and then Satoshi looked at him with concern.

“You’re awake… Thank God…” The shorter man whispered and smiled wanly. Masaki didn’t say a word when his boyfriend called the doctor and after couple of minutes Matsumoto and a nurse came.

“How are you feeling today?” Jun asked, while the nurse was checking Masaki’s vitals. The taller man remained silent, still a bit confused and after the woman stated that everything’s alright, he whispered:

“I want to be alone…” Aiba didn’t said it louder, because he was still sticking to the rules that Sakurai gave him, and the fear mixed with hope that he will be punished for stating his needs. When punch didn’t come he repeated a bit louder. “Can you leave me alone…?”

“I’m afraid that it’s not possible. Good morning… I came in the right time…” Ninomiya stated with big smile standing in the door. Ohno cursed quietly, Matsumoto sighed and Aiba was empty. The policeman sit on the edge of the bed and asked plainly “Whom are you protecting, Aiba-san?”

Masaki looked with eyes wide open and breathing slowly, to stop another asthma attack he shook his head. He can’t say a word; he won’t betray the only person that loved him the way he needed it… He repeated one more time that he wants to be alone, but nobody moved. Meanwhile Kazunari continued his strange interrogation.

“I found you in that ruined house, bleeding to death. I followed you, you know? I saw you wandering in the mall and I thought that it was suspicious. So I drive after you to that building. After few hours I wanted to check if you are still there and I came in. You were raving something about your master and that you have to wait. Now be a good boy and tell me who are you protecting?”

“Nobody… Leave me alone…” Masaki was close to cry, but he decided that he won’t show his tears to anybody but Sakurai. He belonged to him; his body, his mind and his soul. He will die first before he will betray him. In the meantime Matsumoto tried to persuade Ninomiya to leave his patient alone, but stubborn policeman didn’t even want to hear about it. He had enough of lack of answers and he shouted something about another case when somebody was killed, but Aiba didn’t listen. He wanted to be alone; he desired the only thing he was afraid of - the silence. This illogical and unconscious longing rose in him with every heartbeat and that made the blood in his veins run faster. The air in the room became hotter and Masaki was angry. Mad at everybody in the room: Ohno for being so caring and warm, Matsumoto for trying to protect him without any permission, the nurse that was watching him closely and at last Ninomiya for accusing Sho for murder and trying to force Aiba to tell the truth. He couldn’t take it anymore and he exploded, throwing the tray with water off the table. When the sound of braking glass filled the room, men stopped fighting and looked at Masaki with interest. His emotions didn’t cool down, he was angry like never before so he jumped out the bed and smashed everything he could grab, screaming.

“I told you to leave me alone! Get out! Everybody get the fuck out of here! GET OUT!” Glasses, books, vases, clothes - everything was flying around the room, desperately wanting to hit somebody but without a result. Aiba was hitting the wall with his hands and head, begging for leaving him alone. In all that madness he managed to catch Jun’s voice:

“4 milligrams of ativan, now!” The needle shone and shortly after the psychiatrist came slowly to his patient. Masaki panicked.

“No… No, please no… I’ll be calm… Please, don’t…” He begged for mercy, but it was useless. Soon he felt the sting and cried, hissing from pain. “Stop… I don’t want to… Please…” He was repeating it like some kind of mantra when the room started to spin and he couldn’t move a muscle. “Please… I just wanted to be alone…” He cried for the last time before the darkness surrounded him.

This time he didn’t have any dreams, probably because of the medications. Fortunately he was left alone, or at least he thought so, because there was nobody in his sight. Masaki closed his eyes for a while and started to think what he should do next. This time probably he will be forced to stay in closed and well guarded ward without any hope to get out. And that meant that he won’t see Sakurai ever again; he will be sentenced for life with bleeding heart without any possibility to cut his skin. Tons of drugs that will make a vegetable out of him, without any feelings and desires… He laughed bitterly and opened his eyes just to see Ohno sitting on the chair right in front of him.

“You’re awake?” Satoshi asked quietly.

“Yes.”

“Do you want something to drink?”

Masaki wanted to say that he has hands and he can get the water himself, but in that moment he noticed that he is tied to the bed. At that time Ohno’s question wasn’t awkward. Aiba shook his head and remain silent. For a while neither of them said a word, but the silence was broken by the older man.

“I’ll tell Matsumoto-sensei that you are awake…”

“No… Leave it… I want to lie down like this a bit longer.”

“Do you want to be alone?”

“I don’t care…” The taller man answered, staring at the ceiling. At that time he really was indifferent, like if somebody has stolen his soul… Oh, wait… It happened… His soul was taken away long time ago by a man who stopped visit him in his dreams. Meanwhile Satoshi came closer, sat in the edge of the bed and grabbed Masaki’s hand. As soon as Aiba felt the touch he moved back few inches, as far as the bonds let him. It looked like Ohno’s fingers burned his skin, which was not that far from the truth. Why that stubborn man didn’t leave him after that letter? Why is he sitting next to him with stupid hope in his eyes? Why Masaki doesn’t feel a thing? No pain, no pleasure, no love… Just emptiness.

“Masaki… What happened to you? You experienced horrible things, I know that… Let me help you… You survived, so let the wounds heal…”

“No, Satoshi… I died long time ago, in water… Now I am falling on the bottom. You should leave me. Go and find somebody who…” The taller man wanted to say ‘who will love you’, but he cut off his statement… He was fully aware that he is hurting his boyfriend, but he didn’t care anymore. Future without Sho replaced everything else.

“But I love you… YOU! Nobody else… And I will stay with you…”

“Even if I don’t want that?” The silence that filled the room proved that Ohno was confused by this question.

“You’re confused now… I understand that. That’s why I don’t believe you. I just want them to catch that monster and put him into jail for a long time… He deserved after what he did to you and to that other man…”

“What man?” Masaki asked quickly and tried to sit, but it was impossible with those ties around his wrists.

“Around a year ago a man was kidnapped, like you. He was held for six months, raped and tortured… Police found him dead… That murderer has to be punished for that!” Ohno almost shouted the last sentence, seeming to be angry. Aiba didn’t want to listen to this piece of crap and because he didn’t want to be drugged again he just closed his eyes and pretended that he is tired. Fortunately Satoshi thought that he is sleeping and he left the room, leaving very awake Masaki with million of thoughts. Of course Sakurai liked really rough play in the bedroom, but he wasn’t the type that could kill. It was proved by his care after every act; he even checked once whether Aiba didn’t hurt himself after hitting his head in the wall. Sho loved control and causing pain, but he definitely wasn’t a murderer type. This whole situation with the dead man was just a terrible coincidence. Masaki knew it, but the police didn’t even want to consider it. Probably that poor man was Ninomiya’s cousin, friend or even brother; that’s why he wants to catch Sakurai so desperately. Aiba decided that he won’t help him in that. He wasn’t able to make any move now; he was tied to the bed and intoxicated by medications and after his a bit too far-reaching play they will watch him even more carefully. Moreover his master didn’t show up - Masaki didn’t want to believe that he saw him in the mall. This definitely meant the end; he won’t see Sakurai again and he will spend his life behind this walls. At least they will give him happy pills, so probably he won’t even notice the world around him. Suddenly he felt a thirst, so he tried to sit up and reach the plastic cup. As expected, they won’t give him any dangerous object; he could say goodbye to glasses, knifes or even a metal spoon. It sounded so hilarious that he giggled but he became silent as soon as he spotted green notebook, lying on the table next to his bed. The cover was a bit red in the corner; it was probably his own blood. His heart started to beat faster when he tried to reach the notebook, but the ties didn’t allow him. With all of his might he pulled the trammels until he heard a rustle. After few seconds he managed to free his right hand and taking care of the other he soon was pressing the precious paper to his chest and cried quietly. He didn’t want anybody to disturb him, praying that nobody dared to open it and read his the most hidden thoughts.
Matsumoto found his patient in that state when he came into the room.

“I didn’t read it, nor let anybody to do that. Of course it would make many things easier, but I respect your privacy. I won’t read it unless you will let me.” Jun sat on the chair, watched sniffing Aiba who was calming down slowly and continued. “Although I know that this diary made you escape. Believe me, I have different methods. Anyway I came to told you that you have to talk with that stubborn cop. I have problems with keeping him away from you, but if you want I can be here during the interrogation…”

“If you can be that kind…” Masaki whispered, hiding the notebook under the pillow. He sat more comfortably when the policeman went in, with the most determined expression on his face Aiba had ever seen. Without any unneeded delays Ninomiya started with not nullifying the opposition tone:

“OK, mister! Your shrink saved you many times before, but I don’t believe that you are that fragile. Are you ready to tell me the name of the person you are trying to protect?”

“I think that I already told you, Ninomiya-san that I am not protecting anybody.” Aiba became more confident, probably because that small green notebook gave him the strength.

“Stop lying, I heard you clearly. You were saying something about your master. Listen, I know that you didn’t want to kill yourself there… I don’t understand and I don’t want to understand your disgusting bedroom’s kinks, but you are protecting a murderer! And this is against the law!” Kazunari started at Masaki when Matsumoto hold his breath for a while in shock that the policeman knows about it and asked:

“Bedroom’s kinks?”

“I saw him… Cutting himself and playing with his little soldier, covering it with his own blood. Then he passed out, probably because he cut too deep. Thinking of it makes me sick…” Ninomiya covered his mouth with a hand and went to the window, breathing in the fresh air. Aiba became silent, biting his lips and blaming himself for lack of cautious, but that didn’t matter anymore; even the fact that he didn’t really touch himself in the house near the sea wasn’t important. He was sure that he won’t say a word about Sho and the knowledge that his diary was safe gave him hope. Somehow, from unknown reason he was sure that he will meet Sakurai again. Sooner or later... Of course the thought that somebody discovered that he is a masochist, extreme one, was disturbing. Now Jun could think of some way to heal him… Those thoughts were broken by policeman’s voice.

“Aiba-san, do you want to go to the jail for complicity? For heaven’s sake, he hurt you! In the same way he hurt my friend! I can’t let him get out without punishment!”

Masaki smiled to the fact that he guessed; that dead man was Ninomiya’s friend, as expected. However this didn’t solve his problem. Knowing that even if he will be sentenced for imprisonment, as a psycho he will be locked in the hospital for mentally ill made him calm.

“I won’t tell you anything, because I know nothing.” Aiba stated and crossed his arms on his chest, showing in that way that he ended the conversation. Matsumoto was watching him closely, with interest, because it was the first time when he saw his patient like that. Something changed apparently, but Jun couldn’t put a finger on it; however it was a huge step on the way to recover, more or less. Meanwhile the policeman became really angry, because he finally understood that he won’t get any answer from Masaki. He was so close yet so far from finding the culprit. Noticing that he won’t get any more replies Ninomiya left the room, promising himself that he will make Aiba talk, one way or another. When Jun was alone with his patient he was silent for a while, and then started his interrogation.

“Aiba-san, can you explain me what was Ninomiya-san talking about?”

“Is it that important?”

“Of course it is! It could change entirely the method of treatment! It is the most important information you could give me! In fact now I understand everything. I was right with Stockholm syndrome… Tell me, when exactly did you discover that you are a masochist?” Without any delay Matsumoto took out some notebook and stared at Masaki. The taller man didn’t say a word, afraid that he may uncover too much.

“I’m tired, Sensei. I would be glad if you could leave me alone now.” Aiba lay down and closed his eyes just to show that he is sleepy. The psychiatrist sighed and after a short while he left the room leaving Masaki with his thoughts.

It wasn’t good… The direction where whole thing was heading was dangerous. Aiba felt that he may say something accidentally; Jun knows a lot and he will guess the truth soon. If only Sakurai could kidnap him again… Or if Masaki could escape one more time… This seemed to be impossible… With all those images in his mind he didn’t notice when he fell asleep; without any dreams.

~*~

This couldn’t be the truth. He has to be moved to another hospital? Why? Unfortunately nobody could answer on those questions; even Matsumoto himself didn’t know a thing about it. It seemed to be a director’s decision, all documents were correct so Masaki had to get used to the thought about moving. His psychiatrist didn’t continue his questions, probably because he was busy with finding out the reasons of this sudden provision. When no names were revealed all Jun could do was to pass all the information about Aiba to the new center. Because formalities took a lot of time Masaki was alone most of the time; visited occasionally by Ohno. The taller man was acting coldly and indifferently and in the end he stopped to react in any way, showing this way that he doesn’t want Satoshi to come.

Soon the day of the moving came and Aiba was taken to the car with all of his belongings; he didn’t even care to look at his driver. He was as much confused as his psychiatrist and to reduce his stress he just wished to be taken to the new place already. The vehicle moved and shortly the building disappeared behind them. Masaki was curious where exactly they were heading; all he knew was the strange name of the center, which he forgot in the moment, scared by his imagination. He could swear that he knew the driver; that he saw him before, but he couldn’t recall where. Unconsciously he didn’t want to believe his own eyes, because they deceived him once. The man that was sitting behind the wheel looked very similar to Sho; when this thought hit Aiba his heart skipped a beat. Of course he tried to push that image away, but when after about half an hour later; after riding in silence the car stopped on the roadside and the driver turned around and beautiful face of Masaki’s master appeared. Taller man blinked few times, to check if he is seeing right, but when the cruel mirage didn’t want to vanish he whispered:

“M-master…?”

“Now, now… Did I allow you to speak? I don’t think so… However you are in shock, so I think that this time I can forgive you. Remember, from now on rules are back. Understood?”

“Y-…” Aiba wanted to answer, but he bit his tongue and nodded. All the excitement came back and he really wanted to laugh, but he remembered that he is not allowed to do things he desires, so he just smiled almost unnoticeably. Sakurai must have approved it, because he smiled to and he leaned to the back seat to place a forceful kiss on Masaki’s lips. He invaded them quickly with his flickering tongue, that made Aiba’s world spin around. The kiss was broken too fast, and Sho hit Masaki, because he dared to pull him closer.

“I didn’t ask you to do that, right? I think that you forgot our agreement… I need to teach you everything from the top. Now, lie down on the seat and stay still. I don’t have to remind you about remaining quiet, right?!” Sakurai smiled again, after seeing the shy nod. The taller man did as he was told, rubbing his face and feeling overwhelming happiness inside. He didn’t know where they are heading and how Sho discovered where he was, but he was sure that they can’t return to their house. When they discover that he wasn’t taken to another hospital, it’ll be the first place they will look for them. He was wondering if Sho knows about it, but he couldn’t say a thing nor sit up, so he just relaxed and hoped that everything will be OK. His doubts were interrupted by his master’s voice:

“If you have any questions to me, you can write them down in the notebook I gave you. You still have it, right?” When he didn’t hear a reply he added quickly. “You can talk now.”

“I have it. Am I allowed to say something…? I mean something more?” Masaki added shyly.

“Yes, you can talk right now.”

“We can’t go back to that house! They will find us and separate us again… We definitely can’t go back!”

“I know that. I saw that sneaky policeman when I was coming to meet you the other day, so I couldn’t go in.”

“Y-you were there? I saw you in the mall, right? I didn’t imagine this, you were there! I thought that I…”

“Ok, enough.” Sakurai interrupted. “I can see that somebody is too excited. You can sleep now; I’ll wake you up when we’ll get there.”

Masaki wanted to ask where is ‘there’, but he understood that the permission for speaking was canceled, so he just closed his eyes and flew away to the dreamland.
