*MASTERPOST*

It had never been his intention to try to kill himself. Peace for a little while, that was all he wanted. No more thoughts, no more pain, just nothing. Alcohol always helped him in those times. It clouded his mind and made it unable for him to think too much. But he didn't think about the headache he would get while drinking too much. He only wanted to get rid of the pain, so he took some painkillers without thinking. Half a bottle to be exact, drowning it with more alcohol. Needless to say he ended up in the hospital, balancing on the edge between life and death for a while. Right now he wondered if it was worth it. If the small moment of peace was worth all this trouble. If saving him was worth the trouble. If living like this was worth the trouble.

"Your manager is worried about you, you know." A voice broke his trail of thoughts. His eyes focused on the man in front of him, on the other side of the big wooden table in the middle of the room. Jun shrugged, looking out of the window again. He couldn't see much, only trees and bushes.

"He thinks it's good for you to rest for a while. Take some time off and stay here, where you can find some peace."

"Of course he thinks that." Jun mumbled, looking at the man in front of him again. "I'm nothing but trouble in his eyes, so this is a great way to get rid of me."

"Why do you think you are nothing but trouble in his eyes?" Jun didn't like the man in front of him. It was pretty clear he was up to something, if only he knew what exactly it was.

"I'm pretty sure he told you everything, that he sees as a reason to put me in here. He doesn't like the fact that I'm immoral in his eyes, that I slept with the director, that I tried to kill myself."

"So you did try to kill yourself."

"I did not try to kill myself! Don't try to put different meanings to my words. He thinks I tried to, but I didn't. If I would have wanted to kill myself I wouldn't be here right now." Even though he tried to stay indifferent, Jun could feel his blood starting to boil. As soon as he spoke out his words, he cursed himself, realizing he only added more fuel to the fire.

"So you did think about committing suicide."

"Do you think changing the words would make me answer differently?"

"Why do you avoid the question?" Jun sighed and looked out of the window again.

"Can we get on with it? Do I have a choice here?"

"Of course you have. You have to sign a contract and as long as you haven't signed it you stay a free man." Jun frowned.

"Why would I have to sign a contact if I'm here only to rest?"

"Just our policy. Normal terms and conditions, just to make sure your stay here will go without troubles." Jun looked at the papers that were pushed towards him, globally reading it. He didn't find anything strange until he came across the reason of stay.

"I told you, I didn't try to kill myself." He pushed the papers back towards the man, crossing his arms on his chest. The man looked at the papers before giving them back to Jun.

"Just something formal, nothing to worry about."

"If it's nothing to worry about, then it doesn't have to be there." The man sighed and shook his head.

"The people in the clinic need to know about it." He put up his hand to restrain Jun from interrupting "Even if it was an accident. They have to keep their eyes open and make sure you don't have access to anything that might bring you in danger." Jun laughed softly.

"You really think I would do it again?" The man just looked at him without anything showing on his face. Jun sighed deeply and shrugged.

"Fine, I'll sign your papers. Anything to get out of this suffocating room." The man smiled slightly and handed him a pen. When the tip of the pen touched the paper, Jun hesitated.

"Is something wrong?" The man in front of him asked, but Jun simply shook his head and signed the paper with his informal autograph. The same one he used for his fans when they came to him. The thought made him laugh emotionless. Wasn't this autograph and the whole circus behind it, the reason he was inside this place now? His smile made place for a frustrated frown as soon as he stepped outside the office. Automatically his hands searched in his pockets, getting his cigarettes and a lighter out, inhaling deeply to calm himself down. Maybe it wouldn't be that bad to take some time off. Switching from stage play to movies had taken its toll of him. His last role had been tough, his character started to live its own life inside of him, making it hard sometimes to keep an eye on reality. But he loved it. The immoral way his character lived his life, it felt like coming home. Like he had finally found himself. Ironically enough that also brought him here.

Maybe that wasn't completely true, but he decided to leave it that way. The fact that he was already sleeping around with everyone before this role was only a small issue. Just like all the other faults he had according to his manager. It was just this role that made it worse, so being away from the growing movie industry for a while, would be a good thing. Throwing out his cigarette on the ground he sighed and looked around. The building he will be staying in, was quite big but completely isolated from the outside world by the forest around it. There was something in the air , that made him slightly uncomfortable but he pushed the feeling away. Just a few weeks of rest and he would be back on his feet and will be able to leave this place for good.

"Matsumoto Jun?" A voice came from behind, making him turn around.

"Soejima Masaomi, the head of the ward you will be staying in. Come with me, I'll show you around." The man in front of him was quite tall and was wearing a doctor's uniform. Matsumoto frowned and shook the hand that was in front of him. The man didn't seem to mind his muteness, as he led the way, going up two stairs and through a small hallway until they were in front of a big and heavy looking door. At first Matsumoto didn't understand why the man had to unlock the door and locked it again as soon as they stepped inside but when he looked around he understood immediately. Inside the corridor that was behind the big door several men around his age were walking around or talking with each other or with the male nurses that were walking between them as well. Some of them had hollow eyes, looking at a place only they could see. Some were mumbling to themselves, rocking their bodies back and forth.

"For the coming time this will be your home. Here is the living room where you can do whatever you want during the day." Something was wrong with this picture. The closed door, the people inside this place, the living room. It didn't look like a normal place to rest. His eyes shot to the TV, showing some popular quiz on the black and white screen. A couple of men were glued to the screen, some of them mumbling the answers to the questions asked. Somewhere near the window a man was sitting in a big chair, watching Jun with suspicious eyes while his hand combed slowly through the hair of another man sitting partly on his lap. Jun didn't know why but something in that gaze made a shiver run down his spine so he returned his eyes to face the head of the ward, that was waiting next to him.

"Black and white?" Jun mumbled softly, disapproval dripping from his voice. True, most households were still having black and white TV's but for someone like him, who was in the TV and movie business, a brand new color TV was a standard. He couldn't believe a place that was supposed to bring him rest didn't even have a color TV yet, even though they were on the market for a few years now.

"Black and white yes. Sudden changes make some people here uncomfortable so we kept this perfectly working piece and used the money for a new one for much more important things." Jun clicked his tongue but kept his mouth shut as he followed the other man on his short tour.

"Here we have the nurses' office. If there is any problem you can always come to us and we will provide the medicine for everyone on given times of the day from here."

"Medicine?"

"Yes, some have to use more than others. You will see when it's time for them." Jun looked inside the office but couldn't see anything unusual. He followed Soejima who had continued to walk towards a new room. For this one he grabbed a key from his pocked to open it, slowly opening the door to reveal a big room which looked like a classroom.

"This is our music and art room. It's not free to use but every Monday and Wednesday there are lessons and on Friday it's free to use for everyone who would want to use it." Jun looked around in the dark room, seeing a fence with different instruments behind it and some boxes with art supplies at the other end of the room. The man behind him cleared his throat, making Jun turn around and walk out of the room.

"The rest of the rooms are bedrooms. A couple of them are single rooms but you will have to share your room with a roommate. I'll show you your room."

Roommate? How come he had a shared room when he was here for his rest? How could he possibly rest if there was someone else in his personal space whom he didn't know and probably didn't even want to know? Why would he even bother getting to know someone, when he would be out of here in just a couple of weeks? He wanted to ask his questions out loud, but the other man stopped in front of a door and opened it slowly.

"Satoshi, your new roommate is here." The head of the ward said, opening the door completely to let Jun in. In the corner of the room a small man was hunched over a sketchbook, looking up for a few seconds before getting back to his drawing. Jun gasped softly at the sight, but was ignored by the other two in the room. One side of the man's face was completely wrinkled and a slightly different color than the rest of his face, making his face look disordered, like two different pieces were glued together.

"You can leave your belongings here, the bed on the right is yours, just as the closet and the drawers. Satoshi, can you make sure you will take Jun with you when it's a dinner time?" Again, the man looked up from his sketchbook but just nodded instead of giving a verbal reply . This seemed to satisfy Soejima enough, because he nodded as well and turned back to Jun, who tore his gaze away from the man with the big scar on his face.

"I'll leave you here then so you can get settled. If you need anything or still have some questions, you can ask either me or one of the nurses here." The man bowed and left the room, leaving Jun alone with the sketching man in the corner. For a short while he stared at the closed door, then at the man but when he didn't say anything he decided to just let it be and started to unpack. He didn't feel like getting to know his roommate anyway and when the other seemed to feel the same way, it was only a good thing. When he finally finished unpacking, he grabbed his cigarettes out of his coat and when he didn't get a negative response (or any response at all for that matter) from the other man in the room, he lit one. Sighing, he sat down on his bed, looking out of the window. Just as he started to wonder if staying here would do him any good, a police car pulled up in front of the building and somehow he knew this was the start of troubles.
