The Octopus Rules! And other tidbits from my weekend.

And Spain wins the World Cup! In the most boring match I've ever seen. But YAY SPAIN! It was a great World Cup, Vuvuzelas and all, although I'll be perfectly happy never to see or hear one of those things again. None of my picks made it and I was sad to see both the US and UK go out as early as they did ( Read more... )

Wait, we were supposed to be hating on the World Cup? Why? Dangit, I never get the Evil Memos.

Dude! Did you not see Glenn Beck (and others) frothing at the mouth about how the World Cup was an attempt to force European Socialism down the throats of freedom-loving Americans blahblahblah. Seriously though...not making this stuff up.

Oh, no, missed that. I cannot deal with Glenn Beck. I like Rush, because he can usually make his points with humor and it's easy to spot the exaggeration and froth that's just there for the ratings, but Glenn is just cray-cray.

I swear, with the oil spill and the climbing unemployment rate and the upwards-spiraling debt, and we're supposed to worry about soccer? The extremists on BOTH sides have lost their MINDS.

So you haven't enrolled in Beck U? :)

Yeah, Lonesome Rhodes is definitely out there where the buses don't run.

Extremists are...extreme, but I fly my own Moonbat banner with pride.

On to the next round of craziness.

It sure wasn't a good advertisement for the beautiful game, was it? If someone sat out most of the tournament thinking they'd wait for the final to see how it's really done...yikes.

I'll miss the South American hotties and some of the African teams doing the shirt exchange.

Yeah... that octopus was always right - it's almost a bit scary. But it was his last WM (at least that's what they worte somewhere in the news).

Apart from that... I'm pretty sure I read that actually stretching is a) either not really helping with sore muscles or b) might actually make it worse. Just saying...

There's a lot of opinions, but I'm pretty sure I should be doing something besides just getting off of a machine and going to straight to the locker room and then back to work. If I had more time, I'd also be taking advantage of the jacuzzi as well.

Well, I dunno, I found that a nice hot shower helps (best combined with a muscle massage with a shower scrunchie or something), as well as horse liniment or any lotion containing camphor and/or arnica :D.

I've got a week off coming up soon and I'm planning to get some massages. Hopefully they'll have sound-proof rooms, because I think anyone trying to knead the kinks out of my legs is going t hear a lot of screaming.

You know, there's angst and then there's just self-indulgent twaddle. Buffy/Angel gives me a major whiff of the later

Absolutely. I think you are going to totally love season 5 and 6 when you get there. Especially six. The Buffy fandom in general is pretty dismissive of it but it's my favourite and I think its right up your alley.

I'm looking forward to the Spike/Buffy stuff, although I know there's a whole lot of angsting going on there too, although a slightly different flavor.
