I'm pretty sure you can't post using comm user pics (which is why I always have this one on the go - but if anyone knows better I'd like to know as well :D

If you can't post using Comm User Pics, then what's the point of having them? (Not snarky...seriously trying to figure this out.)

To make the comm not look 'naked' is the best I can figure...
I know when I first took over modding dw100 I thought I ought to be able to but *shrugs*

It's a weird LJthing

For a moment I was all, "WHAT? THERE IS A POSER ON THE INTERNET >:(" And then I realized that poser was probably me.

The comm user pics thing is kind of lame, it's true. It's always been easier to just let people post with their own icons.

You, baby, nobody but you! You really still are my co-mod for ppth_support.

I feel bad because you went to trouble making the damn things, and I went to the trouble of loading them and they're just sitting there.

I find it hard...ok, not that HARD...to believe there's no way for at least the moderators to be able to use them, beyond just loading them onto my own LJ account.

There is a way to use them, but you have to disable people being able to use their own icons. I'll change it and see if it works. The icons weren't really any trouble ♥

I should write something for that comm one of these days.

And I need to get my shit together and post the next eligible character list. I don't want people to not be able to use their own Icons. Maybe I'll just load some of the icons onto my own LJ...I still have a few unused spots...and start using them for PPTH_SUPPORT posts.

The only way you can post using one of those icons is to load it as your OWN icon. All you can do with community icons is change the default one.

(You can't actually post as the community, so it makes sense if you think about it.)

If you want to do Admin-type posts, you could load one or more icon for when you post (which Marilyn mistressmarilyn and I do for our various communities).

I use the icon I've used here a lot... (smile)

Okey doke. I mean I guess it does make sense...kind of. Thanks for the information. I don't know exactly why I thought otherwise, except that communities do look a lot like personal LJ accounts. OH WELL. Live and learn. And thanks again.

Back in the Dawn Of Time on LJ, from what I remember, it used to be that you could use the community like a personal journal if you were the moderator/maintainer (whichever was the first use). It led to some issues, I think with mods doing stuff, or the software changed, I'm not at all sure which to be honest, and it changed to not being able to do that.

I guess community userpics are a relic from the stone age in LJ terms.

I'm not even sure exactly how the "community" accounts differ from the personal journals, because like I said...technodork.
