I really loved The World's End.

As in way more than I thought I would. I really liked Shaun of the Dead, but Hot Fuzz was a major let-down and I just didn't think another "genre-take" with Simon and Nick would all that appealing, but hubby wanted to go...and I absolutely adored it. Like from the first second.

Slightly spoilery )

I haven't seen the other two - I keep meaning to look them up but haven't gotten around to it! What I really loved about it is that it really could have been a 'Big Chill' movie unto itself - there's nothing at the beginning that signals it's not going down that path until it... doesn't. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it anywhere near as much, but still.

Although I thought Martin Freeman was a bit too Marin Freeman-y.

LOL, I kind of know what you mean although I'm not exactly sure what this means. If you know what I mean :P

I think you'd enjoy Shaun of the Dead, but can skip Hot Fuzz. Spaced (TV series) was fun, but looks a bit dated now. I almost loved the Big Chill stuff more than the alien invasion. I was really caught up in Gary's quest and his desperation. I'm kind of sucker for those movies for some reason. I love Peter's Friends, although there's of lot of that need to be FF'd for cringe reasons...Hello Emma Thompson, I'm looking at you. (Or not, as the case may be.)
