Hugh as a pirate?

The Doctor Is (Back) In: Hugh Laurie in Talks to Join NBC's Pirate Drama CrossbonesIt says "in talks," but my guess would be that negotiations are pretty far along if someone is leaking this kind of thing. I know Hugh said "no more TV," but maybe a mini-series doesn't count? Presumably, it would be yet another part where he doesn't have to shave, ( Read more... )

Arrow looks about fifteen years old. The one time I caught some of it, he was in his street clothes running up a flight of service stairs. Then somehow! He has his Arrow bag! A minute later he busts out onto the roof, not only with the outfit on, but green makeup smeared on his face? WTF?

Yeah, it's crap, trust me. I just happen to be ALL ABOUT BARROWMAN!

I've read a bunch of articles about Hugh Laurie for this role but I can't figure out if it's going to be a 10-ep limited series OR whether season one will be 10 eps (and I've seen other series do that, then get picked up for a longer season two). Of course, it's possible that he has the clout to keep it to 10 eps a season, closer to what British TV does.

My tin-hatty RPF writing self imagines that after a summer of gallivanting around the US and Europe playing music, trying to settle back down in either LA or London and just work on the new book seemed awfully dull and the next thin you know he's calling the agent trying to line something up. Or he was just full of shit when he said "no more television."

Meh, we stopped watching Arrow long ago. The hero is just too flat and unlikeable.

And Hugh as a pirate? Hmm, I dunno about this.

At this point, it's just the Barrowmania, so the actual merit of the show is irrelevant to me. Although I did have nice "Hey It's That Guy" when the baddie of the week turned out to be TJ Ramini, who is much sexier with his fake (bad) Israeli accent as a recurring Mossad agent on NCIS and who is apparently (thank you IMDB) actually British, so he was being fake American on Arrow.

I'm pretty much rooting for everybody BUT the "hero." Clearly this is position that will leave me doomed to disappointment.

Hugh can change his mind if he wants to, and I'd rather have him doing a good TV show than some of the shitty movies he seems to pick out.

Well, "good" certainly remains to be seen, if the project does come to fruition, but as the woman who watched three craptastic episodes of Arrow just waiting for Barrowman to show up, (not to mention about six or seven eps of Desperate Housewives) I'm hardly one to talk.

Heh, just realized that Desperate Housewives would have been a good name for us during the latter days of the formerly wonderful show called House, although that might have made us too much like the Snapewives, who thought they were married to Severus Snape on the Astral Plane. (No, I'm not kidding.)
