Some of these thoughts are inspired by a comment conversation I had with cuddyclothes recently.

I hate everything.

I am lost, with no fandom to speak off.

House gave me my last, dying wish, like a leaukemia kid at Disneyland with a hungover Mickey Mouse.

I watched Wilson drop him off at the asylum, then I went on holiday and when I came back, Wilson got cancer aaaand, more importantly got really fucking hot again ( ... )

Oh honey! *HUGS* I was profoundly disappointed with the way House ended, but I do understand that it worked for some people, so I'm glad you got a final rush out of it.

Does Sherlock do anything for you? I know that's a happy place for a lot of people. I've written a few Sherlock fics that I'm proud of, but I'm contrarian enough to refuse to buy into any of the John/Sherlock schmoop and I hate!sex ship Sherlock/Sally.

I definitely relate to missing that first rush of joyous fandom creativity. I haven't had that in a VERY LONG TIME, and to be honest I'm not expecting it again. House hurt me so bad, I'm afraid to love again, as it were. I'd say it drove a car into my house, but I have an apartment AND I still can't see any in-character reason for House to have done it to Cuddy.

Maybe fannish love will come when neither of us is looking for it?

I'm sorry for the Drama Queen post, I was sort of joking, but sort of not. We moved house in Feb to a new area and I FUCKING HATE IT HERE! It's full of the best countryside and the worst people and I miss London, but London is too crappy for poor people to bring up children in ( ... )

I could never get into Bedlam. I was never sure who the characters were or why I should care about them.

I'm sure leaving London was hard. I love that city so much, although it was overwhelming to me last time around.

If you have a chance to see Justified, I'd recommend it. At least one great frenemy slash pairing and some of the best dialogue I've ever heard written for television. Not sure if it'll hit your buttons or not or if the Kentucky setting will be a bit off-putting.

Well, I don't think this is the right time of year to worry. It's the dead zone, before the summer shows kick in, like my personal favorites Warehouse 13 and Haven. This period is really frustrating but I'm trying to remind myself that it's just a lull.

Well, just because there's nothing pending to worry about is no reason for me not to worry. :)

It seems like the best time to get it out of my system and decide what I'll be Tivo-ing. It's still weird to me having over-lapping
seasons for the smaller networks as opposed to the old three networks, September-May system that I grew up with.

I grew up with those too. ;)

OH, do I know what you're talking about! I watch NCIS occasionally but not enough to be part of a fandom. Same goes for Supernatural, which I enjoy a great deal. No other show "got" me the way House did.

Tonight they had an episode from S8 that was every bit as bad as I thought when it aired. (The Elmer Fudd episode.) I had to turn it off before I started vomiting blood and couldn't feel my legs.

I loved it through S5 (although ODOR is one of the episodes that also make me vomit blood, oh, and have a seizure). My friend who I correspond with: I sent him a written summation of Seasons 6,7,8. The response was along the lines of a horrified, "You have GOT to be kidding me."

The cancer arc really got to me, even though intellectually I knew it was manipulative fanservice. At some point I'll have to write about the discussions I've had with my therapist about the show.

I always felt like House was going to be my first and last fandom, and that seems to be how it's going.

It has been an emotional roller-coaster, no matter where you want to draw the line between classic and crap-tastic.

I almost hate to ask, but which episode do you classify as "Elmer Fudd?"

House brought me back into fandom after I'd gafiated from Trek and Science Fiction in the mid eighties and it got me on LJ and back to writing fanfic and from there to Torchwood and all my British shows. As horrible as it got, I still have a lot to thank it for.

"Runaways." You can find my review of it on my blog. It's mind-blowingly bad.

Yeah! Absolutely ghastly and a really tragic one in terms of missed opportunities, which were cast aside in favor of making sure we know that ALL PARENTS ARE EVIL!

Fanfic-wise...not madly inspired by ANYTHING right now,

This is me. And it makes me sad. I have a half finished post I never completed because it was too depressing all about how there is no longer any GRIPPING fandoms for me anymore.

I *loved* Torchwood/Jack and immersed myself in it for AGES and just had the best time there. Then was COE *shudders* and I tried to soldier on, but I couldn't even finish watching Miracle Day. NCIS is an utter mess now, and has been for years. (And NCIS:LA is worse). White Collar should be good, but isn't. I managed to fall into Sherlock for a while, but oddly S2 left me feeling MEH about it. I've dipped my toes into Merlin, Avengers and a few other fandoms but nothing grabs me or keeps my interest. It makes me sad.

It is sad, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. It's almost like a de-tox or cleansing period, because being that early fannish passion stage is an addictive rush and you can't go on that way all the time.
Also, since the commenting culture (at least on LJ) doesn't seem as productive anymore, it's harder and harder to get the feed-back high.

So right now I'm trying to focus on taking the skills I learned cranking out all that fanfic and seeing if I can make it into something original that might net a few bob. (Not to mention doing some "scrubbing" and seeing if I do anything with that material.)

I'm also just working on spending less time on line and riding my bike, singing karaoke etc.

Oooh, the feedback high. Such a lovely thing.

Look at you being all productive! That's great! Meanwhile, I am spending countless hours blundering about on tumblr.

I need to get my ass in gear and finish one of my WIPs or something else useful.

Don't think I'm not spending countless hours blundering around on Tumblr. :)

IF there's a Come As You're Not party this year, you might find something inspirational there.

I'm quietly letting go of Bones. I haven't seen the second half of season 7 and nor do I particularly care to. The only show I'm watching on TV right now is Castle, and it's currently on hiatus. Everything else (Doctor Who, Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse, Being Human UK) I need to catch up with via DVDs and online streamings ( ... )

Seen all of Buffy. Devoured it, actually. Loved Firefly, but had to give up on Dollhouse after the first season. The Squick factor was just too high. I WANT to love Angel, but aside from some good Cordelia snark, I'm really not feeling it. I honestly can't understand WHY they thought Wesley was a good character to bring over from Buffy. I know Spike comes back and I'm looking forward to that, but right now it's a slog.

We're desperately waiting for the most recent season of Castle to get out on DVD. Ditto Leverage.
