Jared Harris is freaking everywhere. He also plays a creepy evil mastermind on Fringe.

Clearly playing to his strengths. I'm sure he's a lovely person, but he does all variations on creepy, evil, and mastermind REALLY WELL.

He's also in the miniseries To the Ends of the Earth with Benedict Cumberbatch. That's right, Moriarty and Holmes on a boat.

Brilliant. I love the incestuousness of the British acting community, especially for television work.

He also plays Andy Warhol in I Shot Andy Warhol, which is a very interesting movie, based on the incident of well, Andy being shot by Valerie Solanas. It's a very interesting movie - was part of the reason I got so hooked on the Warhol/Factory aesthetic combined with my growing interest in Lou Reed at the time. Also features an astonishingly good performance from Lili Taylor as Valerie and I can't even put into words how amazing Stephen Dorff (an actor I hadn't thought of much either way before, honestly) is as Candy Darling. Other actors of note are Donovan Leitch as Gerard Malanga (one of my favourite not-really-famous-per-se Factory people - he also seems to turn up a great deal in documentaries about the Factory, and is also an outstanding photographer) and Jill Hennessey as a reporter and Martha Plimpton as a friend of Valerie's. But Jared as Andy is just so brilliant - it's one of my top film portrayals of Andy. It's a very confronting movie - the director and writer (I think they're the same person but I'm too lazy to look it ( ... )

I've seen that movie and didn't really enjoy it, in spite of being fascinated by the whole Factory scene. I think the problem is that the story itself is just so dark and unpleasant. Also Lily Taylor is one of those actresses who is so good at sinking herself into unlikeable characters that she's just plain unlikeable. It's painful to see things unfolding and know what's going to happen. I agree the performances are great. Jared must have been very young then, and I might want to see it again just to watch him playing Andy and KNOWING it's him. It would make a comparison with Factory Girl and with Bowie's take on Andy in Basquiat.

Enjoy isn't really the word. It is a very dark, unpleasant story. She is an amazing actress, though, really. It is so hard to watch in some ways. He was, I think, yes, very young. It would be an interesting comparison. I have to say he's amazing as Andy, and I did very much enjoy Guy Pearce's and of course Bowie's takes - they are my three favourites. I really didn't like the one in The Doors though.
