(Also, poor China; I would turn Communist and rabidly anti-Western too, if I'd been screwed over that badly. Not that China didn't have some culpability in the way they handled foreign relations, but--ARGH HUMANS.)

The imperialism implicit in Hong Kong was so ridiculous because a lot of it happened by accident, and yet even then on completely hokey moral grounds and dude there are DRUGS AND SHIPPING COMPANIES how did I not fall in love with this sooner I do not know. /happy rave.
