Tumblr is stupid sometimes.

There's lots of funny stuff on there and that's what I love. But I go into the ADHD tag and I see a lot of stupid crap. I can't just stop looking, because that's where I get the posts I reblog on the Actually ADHD side blog I started.

But seriously, most recent asshattery was this gem:

The word “SUFFER.”

Good for you. Some people are so clueless.

Someone has reblogged saying that it's not really bullying because it was just clueless, not deliberately harmful.

INTENT IS NOT MAGIC AND DOES NOT MAKE IT NON-ABUSIVE.

Thanks.

I have very little patience for this kind of garbage right now. Sometimes it's easier to write responses than others, though. :P

You know why I'm beginning to really believe Elisabeth has ADHD of some sort?

Her reactions to caffeine. We tried an experiment. On the recommendation of a homeschooling friend with a likely ADHD child, we tried a small can of Dr. Pepper on Elisabeth on a day when she was off the chain.

She calmed RIGHT down.

Huh.

So, we tried it on the other one. Gave them the same amount at the same time.

The little one acted like a bomb had gone off in her head! She was literally, physically bouncing off of walls, while her normally overactive older sister watched in awe.

It acts quickly, too. If we give it to her with dinner, she'll be calm and relaxed until bedtime.

I really like your response, BTW. It's very matter of fact, educated, and then you can feel the gloves coming off, one finger at a time, like a fine gentleman removing his gloves so he can SLAP THE SHIT OUT OF YOU.

ARtfully done.

Given that, if you're okay with the sugar, you could probably go with caffeine for a while - no prescription meds.

I used to drink an entire bottle of Jolt Cola and fall asleep. My friends would drink maybe an inch out of a glass and be vibrating. (This was when I was in university.)

Yeah, I'm definitely going to mention it to the doc. Sugar doesn't bother me (or the kids) overmuch. We limit it, but this is the south... sweet tea is a staple. ;)
