The majority of this morning was spent doing two things: Getting an Oregon state driver's license, and pleading guilty to last month's speeding ticket, lowering the fine from $242 to $182. Quick story...

When I got my DUI back in Colorado, I had to go to the courthouse (for an obvious reason). They take you in groups to talk to the D.A., and when it was my turn, since they had screwed up on the original counts, I got my DUI turned to a DWAI (which is a lot better) and they dismissed my charges of running a stop sign and not having insurance. Anyhow. Plead guilty to the charge.

Walk into the courtroom with my mom. Scared beyond belief. They call a name and this kid around my age walks up to the podium with his LAWYER. Wearing a suit and tie. Judge rattles off the maximum penalties but goes with the plea. My name is called next. I'm crapping my pants because I'm with my mom and I'm dressed like a shlub. Same offenses. Same scaring.

I walk out of there the happiest man alive. That proved to me it doesn't matter how you look. Although I will admit I got pretty damn lucky...
