the Cylon Family Christmas in Nashville

Ahaha, that's somehow perfect. I would LOVE to see Hotdog navigate (or not) the Human table with Starbuck and Baltar for company though.

“DRADIS contact!” Louis shouted as he jerked awake.

Hee, drunk Hoshi is kind of adorable. This is absolutely the best and I'm loving the hell out of this trip into detour-verse. *g*

Hmm, maybe Hotdog and Nicky will have to go to Nashville next Christmas...

I have a soft spot for drunk!Hoshi, too. He's a bit more creative when inebriated than most folks I know, but he's such a sweetheart, too.

Thanks so much for reading!

Glad you enjoyed it!

It took me forever to come up with the hook of using movies as research material. The trick to this extra chapter was that I needed them to misinterpret Christmas, but I didn't want to make the characters look stupid, just funny. So, my general approach turned into, "What if they didn't do something stupid per se, but rather just...male?" And it worked. :)

I'm thinking next year I'm going to have to write the Cylon Family Christmas, eh?

Toby got mad at me because I was laughing my ass off and he had no idea what I was laughing about. This was HYSTERICAL, and SO worth the wait ( ... )

I'm back.

More things I loved:

-The scientist/cooking comment. FTW!!!

-This one hit me in the car:

and they all looked at me like I was from another planet when I said I wanted Who Hash-”
Um, Louis, dear, I've got news for you.... I can't believe I missed that the first time through ( ... )

Eek, more lovely comments!

and they all looked at me like I was from another planet when I said I wanted Who Hash-”

Um, Louis, dear, I've got news for you.... I can't believe I missed that the first time through!

Yay! That was another one of those under-the-radar jokes that I hoped wasn't so far under the radar that it would slide past everybody.

Dee rocking Nicky. That just struck me as so sweet.

I love this image, too. After reading ALTLUT, I've got it stuck in my brain that Dee really does love kids and wants a family. In my mind, she gets all that in this 'verse eventually.

Louis's fashion sense (which sounds remarkably like my husband's).

Thanks so much for the help on what gifts would be suitable for whom, BTW. Actually, you can pretty much take credit for the whole bit on Louis's sweater yourself.

Again, I'm so happy you enjoyed this, and thanks for the lovely comments!

Thanks so much for the lovely comment! I had a blast writing this, so I'm glad you had such fun reading it.

I love Dee getting all the geek references (because she's watched them all or she just listens? :)

Yes, I'm so happy somebody caught that! There are jokes that you announce, and then there are ones that you kind of slip under the radar and hope at least a couple people find it as amusing as you do, and that's one of them. Oh, she's seen them all. :) Even though Dee isn't a GEEC, Dee is a total geek; she just doesn't feel the need to advertise it. Plus, if she openly admitted her geekdom, she couldn't rib Felix and Louis for theirs nearly as freely.

The conversation about being gay and not dealing with chick-logic had me almost rolling on the floor,

I do believe Hotdog's line is my very favorite of the whole thing. I absolutely love the fact that Hotdog can say just about anything, like he doesn't have a filter between what comes into his mind and what comes out his mouth. He's almost like Jayne on Firefly in that way ( ... )

EEEEEEE!! freakin' adorable on so many levels. You know you had me at the very beginning with the Felix-Dee BFFness!

And then scientists can cook! <3 And Hot Dog's sweater! (my brother and his wife had a Bad Christmas Sweaters party this year. I saw pictures and am totally stealing that idea next year!) And lightsabre chopsticks! and the Yule log channel! and and and... *dies laughing at drunk!Louis*

you are brilliant. *draws hearts around this*

Aw, thank you so much! I feel a little bad that I can't ever get my brain to write Felix/Dee for you, but I'm happy you enjoy Felix-Dee BFFs so much!

and the Yule log channel!

I have never actually seen this myself, only heard tell of it. It seems bizarre that there's really just a channel with a video loop of a fireplace running on it, but...Earthlings are weird that way, I guess!

Poor drunk!Louis. I needed somebody to get a little silly for the ending to work, and he took one for the team.

Thanks so much for reading!

I've only heard of the Yule Log Channel too. It's possible it's all a big urban legend ;-)

I feel a little bad that I can't ever get my brain to write Felix/Dee for you, but I'm happy you enjoy Felix-Dee BFFs so much!

Awww, don't feel bed! They are wonderful as BFFs, and I'd rather have that than nothing.

Research by TV specials - that's exactly like our boys! They're so lucky they didn't watch Nightmare before Christmas.

Loved the menu and was supper funny because our family Christmas was absolutely saved by Chinese take out this year (the oven abruptly stopped working).

So much to love in this and thank goodness for their angst free universe clause!

There are *so* many ways their research method could've gone wrong, but I hadn't even considered *Nightmare Before Christmas* level of weirdness... :)

Hey, I'm with you--Chinese takeaway is excellent holiday food. My family just likes it more than traditional meals, so we do that kind of thing a lot. I actually kind of *wanted* to go to Felix and Louis's party, just for the menu!

Thanks so much for reading!
