Negotiations continue on Capitol Hill that I personally consider "lose-lose", in that Democrats are considering trading something I don't want, in exchange for something from Republicans that I don't want. I'd rather they all fail in their dealmaking and go home for Christmas ( Read more... )

Because Ukraine is the frontline between the old US-dominated world order and a different one that seemingly will be determined by several centers of power (not completely solid yet).

If the US fucks up this political project after all the wars in the Middle East and the coup d'états they have supported over the last 20 to 30 years, which all ended in terrible disasters, the rest of the world might come to the conclusion "Why still follow/orientate by America? They're losers!".

Why the mutual sanctions are only half-hearted: Countries and their political blocks want to make it seem like duels between centers of powers are still possible like in the days of Cold War. - While here needs to be mentioned that this type of thinking rather came from the US and the EU in the matter of Russia because of its war in Ukraine ( ... )
